Padding without the penalty.

With the progression of trail bikes comes the evolution of riding, which often means we're railing faster into corners, boosting over rollers, and popping down the occasional rock garden with some serious speed. Consequently, this also means that when we go down, we go down a bit harder. But that doesn't mean we want to load up with bulky DH level pads when most of the day will be spent pedaling, which is why POC brings us a knee pad that's evolved along with our riding, the VPD Air Leg.

This light and airy pad offers just a touch of protection, while loading you up with super breathable and compressive materials that shield from scrapes, and help blood circulation to reduce fatigue. They're preshaped to boost flexibility and sit comfortably when you're pedaling, while silicone strips at the top and bottom lock them in place, even when you're booking it into loose root latticed old growth. On long climbs and punchy switchbacks you'll be happy that they are crafted from perforated material that is designed to increase airflow while pulling away moisture to keep you dry and cool inside.

  • Light and airy pads for trail and enduro days
  • Minimal padding level for just a bit of peace of mind
  • Let cool air in and wick away sweat with perforated material
  • Compressive fit supports muscles and doesn't slide around
  • Enjoy full range of motion with preshaped knees
  • Silicone at top and bottom secure pads in place
  • Ultra-breathable for long an tedious climbs

Forgot I was wearing them!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

Super comfortable, seem very well made. They stay in place really well and the knee pad seems to really help with that. Have used them is perfect 80 degree weather but seems like they would be really good in much hotter weather! Way better than the Fox knee pads I was using before. Fit seems true to size. Very happy I purchased them!

Perfect for light MTB riding

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Not armor, but plenty of protection from trees/branches and falls. While these offer nice protection, they are not too heavy nor restricting. Stretchy and good placement of silicon on the ends to keep them in place. Luckily, no falls to truly test. Great product.

I like!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've finally had a chance to wear the knee pads for several rides and have found that I really like the way they fit and after I warm up I don't give them a second thought. I have taken a fall off the mtb with them on and found they provided good protection for my normal riding which is all mountain and cross country. I did have to send the first pair back the BC because the seam separated on the first ride. BC worked the warranty and sent a new pair that are working great and holding together fine. I also like the extended material on the top to fit under my short liner. Good clean look and again comfortable feel. I'd buy again.

Perfect Knee Pads!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The 4 previous reviews all hit the nail on the head. These are awesome minimalist pads. Exactly what I was looking for - enough protection for a spill here or there on dirt/rock and comfy enough to pedal in for hours. Bonus: The sleeve is long enough to slip over the bottom of my liners, ridding me of unsightly knee pad to liner thigh gap.

If you're looking for more bulk and protection, the Joint VPD 2.0 would be the way to go. I tried those on, but couldn't imagine pedaling in them for very long, especially on hot summer days.

Outstanding Kneepads for Trail Riding

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Before you purchase these, consider what you're using them for. If a majority of your time will be spent on downhill riding without much pedaling, go for a burlier pad. If you're looking for a light, comfortable, minimal pad because you're spending most of your time pedaling it's going to be hard to beat these. I had the previous version (not a real sleeve, had a tightening strap ontop) and really liked them. I absolutely love these... there was no real break in period, I forget they're there when I'm riding. The protection is adequate, again this is the Air series, it's meant to be minimal. You want something burly look at the rest of the POC lineup.

I got the size Medium (I'm 6'3 and 185 lbs) and don't have issues with them sliding down. I do keep the top of the sleeve tucked underneath the bottom of my liners. If comfort is your goal the POC Air should be on a very short list of options to look at.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these as a gift for my buddy in Michigan. He has yet to test their durability, but the claims they fit perfectly and do not slide around while biking.

Knee pads for people who hate knee pads.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium.

I've always hated wearing knee pads. The bulk, the restriction, the heat. these solve all of those problems. They're very light, so they breathe easily, there is minimal padding in the front, so they don't restrict pedaling, and with the minimal padding, they're very slim fitting. they work great for people who hate wearing knee pads.

Excellent fit, relatively light protecti

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

fit is excellent. I can fit in a small knee warmer, and ordered a Medium VPD air. so maybe runs slightly small? fit is excellent, but have no idea what they're thinking with their sizing chart. the numbers were so far off it's unusable.

materials are excellent. padding is nice, but could be slightly thicker and definitely wider around the knee.

other than that, excelllent.
