Description

Foil the wind.

The POC Multi D Aerofoil Women's Bib Shorts bring impeccable long-mile comfort and a keen eye on aerodynamics to any day in the saddle. Whether you're embarking on a double century through the mountains or toeing the line at a local criterium, these shorts are built to get you through it with sleek, comfortable style.

While we aren't aerodynamic physicists ourselves, POC claims the textured material wrapping the thighs and sitting on the lower back reduces drag by managing airflow across its surface in a fashion similar to the dimpling on golf balls and certain makes of deep carbon rims. The high elastane content of the body fabric provides more obvious aerodynamic benefits, ensuring a painted-on fit throughout that won't shift or bunch. The seamless, integrated leg bands also do their part by eliminating the transitional ridges between skin and shorts caused by traditional folded cuffs and silicone gripper bands, creating one less opportunity for passing air to grab onto you.

The shorts are finished with a hit of reflectivity on the rear panel and POC's silicone-injected Multi D WO chamois on the inside. You'll appreciate the former when the slick Navy Black color becomes less desirable in low-light conditions, and the latter any time you throw a leg over the top tube. The Multi D WO's core incorporates silicone-based VPDS inserts that not only cushion bumps and absorb road noise and chip-seal vibrations, but also taper to allow comfort through a wide range of positions in the saddle.

Fit is Everything

  • Fit: Runs small

POC bibs and skin suits seem to be cut for women who are built like Froome or Nibali. These bibs in particular are built based on your height. If you are slender/fit and above 5’8”, you’ll need a large. I’m 5’10” and slender/fit and ordered a medium. They’re a race fit for me-short height-wise, but that’s ok when I’m down in the position on the bike.
The compression in the thighs is amazing for aiding in muscle recovery. During rides, it also helps focus the thighs for application of muscle in the pedal stroke for power.
Does it crush boobs? Yes. If you’re lucky like I am to not have much in that department, it won’t bother you.
My only qualm is the lower back center area. It gets quite warm. So I have to wear my thin race jerseys to compensate for the heat.
This chamois is perfection for LONG rides. It feels so good you won’t be thinking about how much you regret cycling because your bum hurts on a long ride—like some chamois pads do.
Overall great bibs.

Wouldn’t pay full price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The good: the fabrics, chamois, and construction quality of these bibs are outstanding. I’ll definitely hang onto them and keep them in the rotation, but I agree with the other reviewers’ issues.

I tried them on with a regular bra and the bib straps are bizarre. It’s like they were made by a boy going through puberty who is learning to draw female bodies and can’t get the boobs quite right yet. When I wear them with a highly compressive sports bra, they actually fit fine, but anything else creates uncomfortable and unsightly bulges.

I also hate the POC logo on the leg; it’s a very heavy reflective material that doesn’t stretch at all and thus creates a big divot in the thigh. I think they fit a little on the small side but on par with brands like Assos, Pearl, and Castelli.

Overall, these are decent bibs at the sale price but I definitely wouldn’t pay more; stick with a better-established high end cycling clothing brand.

Yup these crush yer boobs

Agree with comment from Ellie. The straps do not come down straight from shoulders but angle towards the middle, which make your boobs squish out on the sides. WHHhhhhhhhyyyy can't they get this right. I have a medium/modest size chest and the effect was to make me look heavier-chested when dressed in a jersey. Men's bibs never work from the waist down, but I 100% prefer the standard suspender style that virtually all men's bibs have. This is not that.

For such an incredibly expensive product, the other thing they got completely wrong was the POC logo. It's a big white iron-on-sticker-like thing that doesn't stretch... on a super duper stretchy fabric. This created a very visible leg deformity, and these shorts weren't even that tight. Wat.

boob crushers

This bib has great aspects and a few not-so-great ones. First, the good. From the waist down, these are great. Material is soft and stretchy, and has a really cool texture that limits sausage leg. The pad seems good, but I didn't ride in them so I can't really comment on function. Now, the bad. The bib straps cross right over your boobs and kind of smash them right down the middle. If you're small chested, maybe this isn't an issue but it's uncomfortable and looks super weird The bib straps also have a rubbery sticky material in them that I didn't like. Even on sale, they weren't worth it.
