Joint VPD System Knee Pad

Before dropping into a steep trail with jagged rocks and imposing trail features, slip into the POC Joint VPD System Knee Pad for protective reassurance in case things don't go exactly as intended. This protective knee pad is a great addition to any trail rider's arsenal, especially across gnarly terrain where falls carry high consequences. Breathable perforations prevent excess perspiration, should you start to sweat while pedaling uphill for an extended duration.

Sitting at the heart and center of this protective knee pad, POC's ingenious VPD foam stays pliable until impact, at which point it stiffens up to disperse heavy blows. This means you'll be able to wear this pad while pedaling uphill, as it's non-restrictive nature won't sacrifice flexibility. Complementing the VPD padding, the high-tenacity shell is highly resilient from abrasion, so you won't suffer from a skinned knee after falling over rugged terrain.

Not impressed for the price

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I've been wearing knee pads while riding for over 10 years. I've used a lot of different pads. They all have trade-offs. No matter what they are going to make your knees hot and sweaty to some degree and that is going to be balanced by the protection they offer in a crash. I read a good review of these and thought I'd give them a try even though they are about 30% more than competitive products from Leatt, Fox, and Pearl Izumi. I tried them on and I don't think they are going to stay in place during a crash and protect enough of my knee. They were not all that lightweight either. They may pedal well but if my knee is still bruised and bloody after a crash why bother. I'd go with the Leatt Airflex over these and I'd probably go for something with a little more protection in any case. Large also seemed a little loose.

Great Knee Pads

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I originally ordered the POC VPD 2.0 pads (in both a knee and elbow pad), however, I found them to be really hot. I switched to the POC joint VPD system pads, and boy am I glad I did. They are WAY comfortable. I mostly trail ride, but wanted a pad with good protection. These fit the bill. They don't get too hot, and I honestly forgot I was wearing them. Had no issues pedaling in them either. Overall great pad! Good job POC.

Comfortable and Protective

Not terrible to climb in, but I wouldn't go on trail rides with them. I mainly bought them for when I'm riding freeride jumps, and rougher downhills. Comfort wise, I'm EXTREMELY picky as I live in Arizona where it can hit 115 degrees easily in the summer. These are very comfortable compared to similarly protective pads. I wish the thigh closure was a bit looser, but I understand that I have XC legs.
