Restriction is a dirty word.

We're guessing you're not the biggest fan of being held back with bulky padding, whether that's flicking your bike around a berm at high speeds or pumping through a flowing section of trail. However, you probably still desire a bit more protection than going sans pads, especially on those days when you're riding technical trails with sharp rocks and bigger drops posing a threat to exposed body parts. POC developed the Joint VPD Air Elbow Pads for these scenarios where you need a bit more padding, but don't want to be held back from moving naturally on the trail.

The secret to its flexible design with high levels of protection lies in POC's VPD padding. Standing for visco-elastic polymer dough, VPD remains soft and pliable around your elbow, but then firms up the instant you smack it against an immovable piece rock lining the trail. This way, you'll be able to ride freely and without restriction, plus you'll remain protected from crashes along the way. It's really the perfect pad for someone who normally doesn't wear pads, providing greater protection than nothing at all, but without weighing you down or making you adjust your riding style.

Comfortable and good protection

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I?m wearing these pads on every ride, and they don?t bother me at all, even in hot weather. They fit me very well, and don?t move at all. I?ve ?tested? them twice in a crash, landing on my elbow/forearm in both cases at high enough speed to slide a little. Excellent protection both times, walked away without a scratch.

Don?t stay put

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I want to like these elbow pads but they just don?t stay in place. By the end of a descent they are around my wrists no matter how tight I make the Velcro strap. Seems like it would make sense to add a strap to the upper arm as well.

There when you need them and barely know

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I just rode 2 full hardcore downhill days and a 25 mile xc day and was so glad to have the pads. They paid for themselves already. A little irritating on the arm occasionally but the shape keeps them in place plus you have the straps. I originally ordered the g-force but the fit was not good. My friends had g force pads as rental equipment and they were constantly round their ankles. Very pleased with my purchase.

Fit tiny arms

I have a hard time finding elbow guard that would fit me. Everything ends up loose. My biceps is 9 inches and this XS fit me perfectly. If I wear this over my sun sleeve then it fit snugly. If your biceps is bigger than 9 inches, I would recommend you go for size S or bigger.

Pretty good, if sweaty

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I?m using these for flatland skating and they provide plenty of protection for my purposes. The guides on POC?s website suggested I order Medium, which turned out to be comically small. The large ones fit well and I have had no problem with slipping. They have a strap around the bottom that can be cinched down for those who need it. I find this mostly a hassle as it can tangle a little when you?re putting them on. My only complaint is that they make my arms sweat more than my old hardshell ones did.
