Nails, be jealous.

Tough isn’t a strong enough word to describe the bombproof POC Joint VPD 2.0 DH Long Knee Guards. Mega-tough, maybe, or nigh-indestructible—definitely something that emphasizes the Joint 2.0’s ability to take big hits. These guards have a lot in common with the standard Joint VPD 2.0, like the breathable neoprene sleeve, secure hook-and-loop strap, and bombproof plastic ‘cap covering, but they deliver an extra dose of protection that comes in handy while tumbling halfway down a rowdy DH line. The extra length means they’re not ideal for pedaling, but if you’re feeling more sendy than conservative, you and your legs will appreciate the extra coverage in a big way.

The Down Hill Version!!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The regular poc vpd pads are great but these down hill pads are built to take the really tough blows that you'd expect when wrecking in full down hill mode. All in all they are beefy!!

Great pads for DH

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I was looking for new knee guards since the last pair I had kept falling off when things got rough. I opted for these POC Long Knee Guards due to POC's superior reputation, the hard plastic cover, and the full wrap design to limit straps while increasing security.

I have had no issues with wearing these knee guards under my pants as well as with shorts. They don't ventilate as well as more minimalist enduro and trail-oriented pads, but that's not the point. These are for more aggressive riding and they offer great protection with acceptable ventilation. Once I had them strapped in place properly I rarely had to adjust them and they are comfortable.

I'd recommend these for DH, bike park riding, shuttle laps, etc. as that's the intended use. They seem to work fine for normal trail riding too, though there are better-ventilated and more minimalist choices for that genre of riding. If you are in between sizes, consider sizing up.

Awesome Downhill/Jumping pads

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These POC downhill pads are excellent for use in bike parks, fast downhill riding, and techy riding where you aren't planning on tons of cardio pumping pedaling. I wouldn't choose these pads for scenarios where you know you are going for mileage. I've used these at Big Bear downhill park in California, and they performed beautifully, without moving thanks to the interior neoprene strips. I prefer them against the skin, but with a snug long sleeves, they are easy to get placed and they stay put just as good. After several spills wearing these, they show some wear on the plastic, which is to be expected, but the sleeve still looks great, no wear on the material, and have held up after countless rides. The comfort continues to surprise me, in a variety of temperatures. if over 85 degrees, and pedaling in the desert, I would say these wont be your coolest option. I am 5'6", fairly square a muscular build and I purchased size large, with little room to spare. Based off of POCs size chart, it is worth staying on the safe side and ordering larger.

Great protection purchased for AM single track. Can wear all day even in summer heat. Stays in place even with a lot of pedaling and does not move. Several falls and so far so good, pads protected well and didn't move. Runs small.
