Description

Swedish form and function.

The Swedes at POC understand clean aesthetics and highly-functioning cycling clothing. It prefers to let the technical aspects of its attire do the talking while injecting just enough stylish elements to keep things fresh. If you have plans for racking up some big miles this season and are in the markets for some new bibs that don't require a small loan, please allow us to direct you to POC's Essential Road Bib Short.

It constructs the Essentials with stretchy and compressive fabrics that help support muscles without excessive constriction. This helps improve circulation and recovery so you'll have more matches to burn when racing your buddies up the canyons. The fit has a next-to-skin feel and, thanks to the full flatlock seams, reduces friction and lets the bibs conform to your every movement while in the saddle.

For the leg openings, 4.5 cm elasticated leg hems offer a secure fit so you don't have to tug the ends back into place, keeping your tan lines razor sharp. Highly breathable mesh upper and suspenders comfortably keep your torso supported without overheating. Chamois duties are handled by a silicone-based VPDs insert for next level comfort. The silicone inserts are strategically placed to quell road noise and saddle pressure, while the material around the insert is optimized to increase airflow and reduced chafing. POC finishes off the bibs with a rear mesh pocket for small items and reflective tabs on the rear that improve rider visibility and safety.

  • Comfortable bibs for high-mileage efforts
  • Stretchy and compressive construction supports muscles
  • Flatlock seams are smooth against skin
  • VDPs Multi D chamois keeps you well padded and cool
  • Mesh upper and suspenders keep you cool and supported
  • 4.5cm silicone grippers firmly keep the ends against your legs
  • Clean aesthetics and no-nonsense features keep the price sensible

Solid Bib Shorts

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

I'm more of a mountain biker myself and this is my first pair of road bib shorts. Really great entry price and the quality is up there with more expensive options. The inseam was nice and long and I found them to be really comfortable.

Great Bibs

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

These bibs are quite comfortable. They have a quality chamois and a nice amount of compression. The bib straps stretch just the right amount. They legs stay in place as well. Great option. Pairs nice with the Essential jersey.

Killer Bibs at a good price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

So far, I have really been pleased with these bibs. They stay in place and stay comfortable for long rides, and don't get too hot either. The Chamois is about as good as some of the more expensive bibs that I have, which makes these bibs appealing since they are about half the price of some of those bibs. Try them out!

Correction...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have these and like them. The full POC description is "Essential Road VPDS Bib Shorts" - VPDS is an acronym for some safety thing. There are a couple of small reflective tags in the back. Anyhow, these do NOT have silicone grippers. The material at the bottom of the Lycra shorts is relatively tight and the material below that is thin and stretchy. they are comfortable and i have had no issues with them riding up. I'm 6'3", narrow-ish athletic build, and a bit leggy. I got XLs and they fit fine. The bottom of shorts are 4.5" above my knee and - though the bib straps are tight when I'm standing up, they disappear when I'm in the saddle.
