For when marginal gains really count.

For a 12-mile, recreational weekend noodle, virtually any pair of shorts with a lump of padding will suffice to keep you comfortably spinning. But when suiting up for a 100-mile race with average speeds closer to 30mph than 20, then every marginal gain counts. With the Contour Aerofoil Bib Shorts, POC covers those margins, incorporating the same elements of gentle compression and long-distance comfort found in the normal Contour Bib Shorts, but with the added advantage of a sleeker, race-ready fit and claimed aerodynamic gains.

While we aren't aerodynamic physicists ourselves, POC claims the textured material wrapping the thighs and sitting on the lower back reduces drag by managing airflow across its surface in a fashion similar to the dimpling on golf balls and certain makes of deep carbon rims. The high elastane content of the body fabric provides more obvious aerodynamic benefits, ensuring a painted-on fit throughout that won't shift or bunch. The wide, flat leg bands also do their part by eliminating the transitional ridges between skin and shorts caused by traditional folded cuffs and silicone gripper bands, creating one less opportunity for passing air to grab onto you.

The shorts are finished with a hit of reflectivity on the outside and the titular Contour chamois on the inside. You'll appreciate the former when the slick Navy Black color becomes less desirable in low-light conditions; you'll appreciate the latter any time you throw a leg over the top tube. The Contour's core incorporates silicone-based VPDS inserts that not only cushion bumps and absorb road noise and chip-seal vibrations, but also taper to encourage a more aggressive position in the saddle. The base layer is perforated for breathability, and the face material's bacteriostatic properties are just as important for warding off saddle sores as the 3D-shaped cushioning itself.

  • Bib shorts designed for maximum aerodynamic performance
  • Second-skin fit with dimpled outer surface reduces drag
  • Chamois cushions bumps and encourages an aggressive position
  • Ergonomic design for comfort and freedom of movement
  • Seamless integrated leg grippers for a secure, comfortable fit
  • Warp-knitted stretch fabric is compressive for muscular support
  • Mesh bibs ensure breathability on blistering hot days
  • Reflective print on back, pocket in the rear mesh for storage

Best Bib shorts ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

So I have a body builder like body , very thick squat legs, I ordered the XXL and couldn't be happier. My main issue has always been finding comfortable enough shorts because of my relatively heavy weight and after having bought the top of the line LGs and Assos I can say I prefer these much better. The chamois is the best, that silicone insert technology really works, again I'm comparing it to the top of the line from the other brands. The material is really slick and the fit again for me works great. The reflective back adds great visibility. Do me a favor and not buy the XXL so I can keep getting good deals on these!

I can't say enough

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Compared to all other bibs I have purchased in the past these are hands down my favorite bibs to date and that is 20+ years worth of bibs wearing. They fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. I can't recommend these enough.

Good product - great price

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought these on sale to replace some aging bibs. I got the large because the previous review indicated they run small - they do. I've only worn them a couple of times on a trainer, but they fit well and are comfortable in the saddle area. I like the material and the constructions seems solid. I look forward to putting some road miles on these!

No Assos- but they're pretty darn nice

I like these. My go-to are Assos, and I really like the Giordana FormaReds, but I still am happy to have these in my rotation- and would recommend considering them. The Lycra is pretty compressive- and the pad is fairly thick- yet not diaperesque. These pair well with the AVIP jersey. These run Euro- I wear a large in Assos, Giordana, and these- Medium in brands like Pearl, Louis Garneau, Hincapie etc.
