We'll be the first to admit that, over the course of long time trials or triathlon rides, we don't maintain an ideal TT position. This isn't just the rider's fault though, as our yaw angle also changes based on wind conditions, turns in the course, changes in gradients—in short, the dynamic conditions that we experience on every ride outside of a wind tunnel. That's why POC—in collaboration with its in-house WATTS lab and the engineers at Volvo—developed the Cerebel Raceday Helmet.

The Cerebel isn't designed as a straight-on aerodynamic lid like the Tempor that debuted years ago on riders like Emilia Fahlin; rather, it's a take-all-comers approach to dodging the wind. POC and Volvo combined their wind-tunnel expertise in order to put the Cerebel through the paces at angles simulating everything from pure, tucked speed to the dynamic body positions and the much more varied yaw angles of time trials that aren't performed on pan-flat courses with a perfectly stationary rider. The result has done more than just impress the professionals at Cannondale-Garmin; it also netted a Eurobike Award for its innovative approach to all-purpose aerodynamics.

Of course, for all the focus on going faster, POC is primarily in the business of making helmets that keep you safe during a head-to-anything collision. Toward this end, the Cerebel features an EPS liner with varying densities in order to absorb and dissipate impact forces. The Zeiss visor helps to avoid any impact at all with a tint that highlights any changes or irregularities in the road surface by increasing contrast. The visor itself relies on magnetic attachment points for its own security.

Light, Comfortable, and Nice Extras

I got this helmet for endurance TTs. The helmet was great on a century and vents kept the visor from fogging up. The temp was very comfortable but it was about 68F out and I haven't had a chance to use it on a really hot day. One interesting feature, not sure if it's intentional or not, is a slight whistling starts if you put your head way down, which actually works as a good reminder to keep your position on the long races.

A really nice perk that wasn't described here was the quality case and 2 interchangeable clear and tinted visors that it came with, I was pleasantly surprised.

I was in search of a new aero helmet for my TT ride and I narrowed it down to the Kask Bambino and the Poc Cerebel. I chose the cerebel for its lower price point and for the color, zink orange.
I felt I needed I a high visibility color mainly because my bike is black and my speesuit is dark and although my current helmet is white I noticed the other day some other riders wearing similar colors and was amazed to see how well it blends in with the background along roadways. Then I saw a fellow rider way uphead the and I couldn't help but notice how his neon green helmet really stuck out in the car traffic. I've been hit once before and being highly visible is a good thing.
Next up is the price point. Lot less expensive than the bambino. So that's plus two now.
Lastly and most important, the aero advantage. I was using a road bike aero helmet and I was noticing some turbulence and buffeting going on once I stepped it up over 25mph. After a few runs with the POC, I have noticed a significant decrease in ear noise, buffeting and most of all ...time. It is a very quiet helmet. Almost like a cocoon over your head and not only does it look fast but it feels fast. The wind just slips right over it. I can turn or lift up my head from the aero position and not feel any drag. I just did a comparison ride today between a couple of my helmets and there is a huge difference.
In closing, all around two thumbs up. I wanted an aero helmet but not the dorky looking triathlon helmets I see out there. The bambino and cerebel both appeal to my eye with their smooth clean lines and intergrated visors. Form follows function and it is clearly evident here.
As far as sizing, I'm a 59cm and this one size fits all helmet was no problem. Plenty of adjustment available. Also air flow isn't bad, it gets warm but I'm only doing 40km runs so no worries.
Oh one last thing, the helmet case and the additional lenses is a nice touch.

Great helmet

I got this helmet as it was lighter than standard TT helmet. Very comfortable and fast. The light weight and integrated visor made it comfortable for out of the box wear on a 35K TT in the cold.
