Coast Suspension Dropper Seatpost

From getting behind the saddle on descents to easier dismounts, being able to adjust seat height with a dropper post changed the way we ride for the better. PNW brings us a dropper post fit for any bike with the Coast Suspension Dropper. It is the perfect match for your gravel bike, touring rig, or even commuter with 100 or 120mm of travel and 40mm of suspension.

PNW has a variety of dropper posts for our gravel and hardtail bikes, but what sets the Coast apart is 40mm of air-tuneable suspension. This suspension absorbs the small bumps we encounter on both gravel roads and pavement, allowing us to stay seated and pedal through the chop more efficiently. Smoothing out the ride also means we’re less fatigued at the end of the day, and feel much more inclined to pack up the next morning to keep on riding. You can customize the pressure to make sure the suspension works best for your riding style, without the hassle of changing elastomers as in other suspension seatpost options.

100 and 120mm of travel is a sweet spot for gravel and light-duty trail riding, allowing us to get behind our saddle when needed to lower our center of gravity for descending. We also like the dropper’s more utilitarian use as to put us in a more comfortable position either waiting for a friend at the top of a climb or for a traffic light to turn green.

A remote lever is available separately, so you can choose which lever works best for your ride: be it a drop bar or flat bar bike. PNW makes an array of levers and the post can be routed internally or externally to fit most any bike.

Great idea horrible execution

Install was a pain. Upon the first ride the post lost all air pressure was stuck in the dropped position. I was approximately 10 miles from home and had to ride back without a functioning saddle. I got home and maxed out the air pressure using my shock pump and tried to ride once again and the post basically a pogo stick. I might be heavier than this post was intended for 250lbs but now am stuck with this paperweight. Reach out to PNW for help and no luck as it is now used and outside the 30 day return window. Probably the last product Ill buy from them which is a shame, since i have their handlebars, stems and grips.

I really wanted to like this post but there are two problems. If you need a seatpost that sits under 7" from the collar, look elsewhere. I'm 6'1", and on a Surly Midnight Special with a horizontal top tube, I can't reach my pedals. That show-stopper aside, I weigh exactly 200 pounds and, at the max 300psi, the shock-absorber sags in a way it isn't supposed to. It's not supposed to sag at all. The action with the PNW lever is grungy and not at all comfortable. So I guess I will try it on a different bike with a sloped top-tube, lose some weight, and get a different vendor's lever.

This works perfect!

I recently purchased this because 1. I HATE stopping to adjust my seat post right before a decent or climb. 2. I have lower back issues so the suspension really softens the blows from hard impact due to having a Hard Tail. I love it and am going to buy another one for my wife.
