Description

Cascade Dropper Seatpost

Building on the momentum of the Rainier, PNW Components developed the new Cascade Dropper Seatpost to be lighter, shorter, with more travel, and have a fixed cable entry at the mid cap rather than the post head to keep things neat and tidy out on the trail. Then, with a light actuation, sealed alloy cartridge, and low-profile remote lever, the Cascade delivers tool-free saddle adjustment mid-pedal stroke to quickly adapt with changes in terrain, from cruising smooth singletrack to blasting through rock-strewn gravel and then taking on white-knuckle descents. Meanwhile, Spin-Stop technology uses a keyed slider system that allows the seatpost to freely move vertically without any side-to-side saddle wobble, and its ambidextrous lever integrates without a hitch on either side for easy access to dropper action when you need it most.

  • Dropper post for moving from climbs to flats to descents
  • Sealed alloy cartridge delivers smooth, light actuation
  • Lever cleanly integrates on either side of the bars
  • Spin-Stop eliminates side-to-side saddle motion
  • Spring preload provides consistent dropper function

Great post and lever included

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Chatted up the team at Backcountry about this post and asked if a lever kit was included. They expressed that is was not. Received the dropper and the lever kit is included. Post works great, set up is one of the easiest I have experienced and with an included lever makes this a great value.

Unanswered Question

Is thumb lever that comes with the Cascade seatpost designed for 1X or 2X drive trains?

So far, so good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Purchased the externally routed Cascade dropper, 170 mm for 2 reasons. First reason, my bike does not have internal routing for a dropper (Spot Rocker). Second reason, I could slam the post and get the perfect height; measured multiple times to make sure it'd be right. Would have considered the OneUp dropper if I had internally routed so it could be the perfect height.
Regarding the under-bar thumb lever/remote, it's fine. Not the most refined, but works. I won't replace it unless I break it. Have a friend who has used the lever and thinks it sucks. I reckon it's how you position them. For $200, I seriously couldn't be happier at this point. Very smooth operation to date. So far, so good.
