Faster than fast and quicker than quick the Pivot Trail 429 X01 Eagle Live Valve Mountain Bike is one we fell in love with from the get-go. This fully capable trail bike quickly gets us up and down the mountain and offers endless amount of ways to have fun. Whether we're speccing some less aggressive meat on the tires to go faster around our local loops, or putting a bit more air in our fork, shock, and tires, this bike knows how to commit. It firmly finds itself at home on highly technical terrain without an ounce of forgiveness.

Dialed in and ready to rip on the descent the Trail 429 doesn't lose any sleep when it comes to big park and mountain days. The bike handles the downhills and techy sections well partly in thanks due to a 66° headtube angle in the low setting. The low approach angle is paired with big 29in wheels specced with aggressive Maxxis rubber so we're able to hit any kind of terrain with confidence. Advanced suspension design has us sitting aboard DW-link geometry. This geo isolates pedaling input from the rear triangle, so when the power is down we're not wasting any momentum from pedal bob.

The Trail 429 Pro is specced with parts that make it enduro or cross-country ready, depending on what we're feeling that day. The SRAM X01 components bring lightweight cross-country weights in an enduro-ready package. The 12sp Eagle range sees us tackling climbs steeper than we ever have before all while pedaling even faster through descents. SRAM also takes care of braking duties, the 4-piston hydraulic brakes are especially powerful and get us out of hairy situations. RaceFace rims are specced in a 30mm inner width, paired with maxxis rubber this optimizes the contact patch for plenty of grip.

Whether it's up or down the mountain the Trail 429 Pro is a race-ready bike that doesn't care what kind of event we sign up for. We're confidently riding our local loops and hitting big descents with ease aboard the new generation of this machine. The frame drops a further 300g off the previous model, bringing the weight down and the number of PR's we're getting on our local loop back up. The Trail 429 has immediately become the most fun bike in our garage, and one we reach for whether it's park laps on the weekends or speedy group rides during the week.
