Why We Like The Trail 429 Pro X01 Eagle Enduro Mountain Bike
Riding up in the big mountains things can go towards the enduro side of the spectrum quickly so we ride on the Pivot Trail 429 Pro X01 Eagle Enduro Mountain Bike to handle the backyard. The Trail 429 comes with 120mm of squish, and though normally that wouldn't be enough for true Enduro the combination of the 140mm fork and slacked-out geometry makes this a fully capable descender. DW-link suspension provides a bottomless feel on the descents and a stable platform while we're pedaling. With Pivot's own hollow-carbon frame the Trail 429 is designed to be fast up and down the mountain, with a bit more emphasis on down thanks to aggressive tires and slacked-out geometry.
Dialed in and ready to rip on the descent the Trail 429 doesn't lose any sleep when it comes to big park and mountain days. The bike handles the downhills and techy sections well partly in thanks due to a 66° headtube angle in the low setting. The low approach angle is paired with big 29in wheels specced with aggressive Maxxis rubber so we're able to hit any kind of terrain with confidence. Advanced suspension design has us sitting aboard DW-link geometry. This geo isolates pedaling input from the rear triangle, so when the power is down we're not wasting any momentum from pedal bob.
The Trail 429 Pro is specced with parts that make it enduro or cross-country ready, depending on what we're feeling that day. The SRAM X01 components bring lightweight cross-country weights in an enduro-ready package. The 12sp Eagle range sees us tackling climbs steeper than we ever have before all while pedaling even faster through descents. SRAM also takes care of braking duties, the 4-piston hydraulic brakes are especially powerful and get us out of hairy situations. DT Swiss rims are specced in a 30mm inner width, paired with Maxxis rubber this optimizes the contact patch for plenty of grip.
When we're needing an efficient bike to get us up and a fast bike to get us down the Trail 429 Enduro is there for us. This fully-capable trail bike breaks the 120mm norm with a full enduro spec package to get us quickly down the mountain. Not all about the descents, DW-link suspension with a newly designed frame that drops 300g off a size large, and keeps our pedaling efficient while we're looking to get to the top of the run. The Trail 429 Enduro has quickly become the most fun bike in our stable, as capable on an undulating trail as it is out in the mountains.
