Like most bikes the Pivot Switchblade 29 Pro X01 Eagle Live Valve Carbon Mountain Bike has gone through the 'longer, slacker, and faster' treatment we've seen popularized lately... with a few tricks up its sleeve. This version of the Switchblade is lighter and faster than ever, with a new vertical shock placement ditching grams off the frame where they're no longer needed. The Switchblade is equipped with advanced DW-link suspension, helping the bike climb like a gravel goat and descend like a demon without switches or flip-chip changes. Complimenting the DW-link suspension is Live Valve technology, providing an electronic brain that works faster than ours to adapt to the terrain.
That longer, slacker, faster treatment has been given geometry to match those claims. With a 66° head-tube angle in the slackest setting paired to a steep 75.5° seat-tube angle this bike is competent on the descents and ready to get us up the climbs. The middling wheelbase of 1193mm(size M) lends itself to stability in the high-speed sections without sacrificing a bit of playfulness through chunder. Live Valve tech makes its way over from the car racing world, offering small instantaneous electronic adjustments to suspension depending on the terrain input. Fox Factory suspension works with DW-link and Live Valve to offer us one of the most advanced and efficient suspension packages available.
Kit with the Pivot is decked to the nine as well, with enduro and trail-focused parts seen throughout. This bike lends itself to getting off the deep end, and modern carbon bits from SRAM's X01 range are enduro rated for years of trail use. Kashima coating on all the squish bits, including the dropper, means we'll be enjoying better suspension performance for longer. This top-o-the-line bike is finished off with a mix of carbon and high-end alloy accessories from Pivot, with carbon handlebars taking a bit of sting out of the harsh vibrations that reach our hands.
This bike rolls on lightweight but impressively durable hubs and carbon hoops from DT Swiss. Their top-end 1501 rims taking all the trail abuse we throw at it and 240 hubs rolling smooth from start to finish. Attached to those hoops out of the box is a Maxxis Minion DHF in the front for optimal traction no matter what condition, and a Maxxis Minion DHRII in the rear. With a tire clearance of 2.6in in the rear, we can easily throw some bigger rubber on for the casual enduro or DH park day. This bike has us flinging around on local loops and getting loaded up for big park days, sometimes on the same day, and we can't wait to ride this high-tech machine for seasons to come.
*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
