Pivot's Mach 6 Carbon has earned its reputation for hard charging fun, and got some beefy updates to push that versatility even further for 2017. Additionally, the Pivot Mach 6 XT Race Complete Mountain Bike lands with aluminum construction that maintains the stiffness and power transfer of its costly carbon counterpart to give that renowned ride a more accessible price point. It mirrors the lines and geometry of the carbon version, with a bigger, slacker, and all around burlier design than the previous Mach 6 that pushes the limits of all-mountain utility and boosts its predecessor's venerable versatility to handle all-day trail epics and hard-charging lift laps alike. Kitted out with a blend of Shimano componentry, this bike is ready for whatever adventure you have planned.
The frame updates manifest primarily in the rear triangle, with a double wishbone rear triangle that's clearly carrying some DH DNA and an ambitious upper linkage design that's 40% wider and engages the frame with larger bearings. Pivot continues the boosted trend to the rear axle with a new Boost 148mm standard to usher the Mach 6 into the modern era of enduro. The cumulative effect of these changes is a claimed 150% increase in rear triangle stiffness, meaning that—though the new Mach 6 leaves a wide, DH footprint—it still climbs more like a four-inch XC bike.
The DW-Link suspension design governing the Mach 6's six-inches of travel also does its part to maintain a secure climbing hold on rocky trails. Its anti-squat tendencies maintain a firm pedaling platform while cleaning terrain-riddled cruxes or picking lines with abandon across trail furniture. That responsiveness is matched on the opposite end of travel with a square-edge capacity that feels virtually bottomless
- Pivot's versatile all-mountain rig goes aluminum
- 6.1 inches of responsive DW-Link suspension
- Longer, slacker geometry for cleaning bigger lines
- Redesigned upper linkage and larger bearings have DH DNA
- Aluminum construction balances strength, weight, and cost
- A blend of Shimano componentry delivers precise, reliable gear shifts

Pivot Mach 6
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
From the order to the receipt, Competitive Cyclist was a great experience. I had never purchased a bike online and had all my reservations put to rest with the helpful staff. Email chat to live phone call. Solid through the entire process.
When the bike arrived, I had a local mechanic look it over and he was super impressed with the quality of the bike build.
I pushed my old bike to the edge of what I believed it could handle. With this Pivot, I am only limited by my willingness to dare more. FANTASTIC bike. Sturdy, confident, FAST.
I could not be more pleased.
6 inch travel XC bike
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is by far one of the most versatile long travel bikes I have ever owned. This bike pedals well enough to be an all day bike but can still handle super rough and burly trails. The shorter top tube and wheelbase make super tight trails and steep switchbacks a breeze. The only downside is that it is not quite as downhill capable as some of the other long travel bikes out there, however, I think it more than makes up for this in how well it climbs and how nimble it rides.
Is the Mach 6 set up for an internally routed dropper?
According to the Pivot site...yes.
How is this bike packaged for delivery? What parts would need to be assembled upon arrival at destination?
HI Dallas, as with all our bikes, they are expertly built, packaged and nearly assembled when they arrive. All you have to do is put on the wheels, bar, and adjust the seatpost. Minimal tools are required, but some mechanical skill is advised. If you are not familiar, check out your local bike shop for assistance.
Is this a factory Pivot build or is it build by Competitive Cyclist? Does it come with a seat dropper?
This is a packaged bike from Pivot. As it is currently spec'd it does not have a dropper post included. I'd be happy to help look into some options for you if you like. Feel free to hit me up directly!
What's the weight of the Mach 6 aluminum?
Hey Burke, the weight on the medium (anodized) black frame is going to be 14060g or 30.99lbs. The orange painted frame will weight just a touch more. If you have any other questions on the bike itself or are interested in ordering one, feel free to give a call to my direct line 801.204.4547 or can email me to firstname.lastname@example.org! Cheers, Connor
