When the snow is falling and you've hesitantly hung up your trail beast for the year, don't fret the coat of white covering the ground, instead, give your Pivot LES Fat 27.5 Pro XT Mountain Bike a good once-over and hit the trails with the best of the fatties. The Pivot LES Fat lets you steamroll over the snow into the wild white beyond where the trails are empty of other souls, shy of lynxes, moose, and foxes, embarking on winter time adventures far from the ski resorts and deep into the woods.
The LES Fat is a welcome change from the cumbersome and heavy fat bikes of yesteryear. Instead of being built like a tank, the LES Fat uses Pivot's hollow-core molding process to create a lighter, stiffer, and stronger version of the fatties we usually see on the trails. This artfully-mastered carbon fiber layup allows for massive weight shedding that's only rivaled by its everlasting durability, backed by a 10-year warranty to ensure you'll have many seasons of riding after the so-called riding season has ended.
Since one of the best features of a fat biking is the ability to feel limitless in different riding conditions, its critical for the bike to also be limitless in its compatibility, which is why the rear triangle features the Pivot Swinger II dropout system that lets the frame accommodate a variety of wheel and tire size combinations. You can choose a shorter chainstay length with a smaller setup to experience a playful ride, or a longer chainstay for stability when the snow is sloppy, or you're loaded up with extra weight for a winter bike-packing extravaganza. The front end also comes with adjustability, with two lower-headset options, enabling you to run either a 29+ wheel and rigid fork, or Manitou Mastodon, and an 18-millimeter cup that allows you to run 27.5 with 3.8in lofty hoops, or 26-inch wheels with beefy 4.8-inch tires.
The LES Fat 27.5 Pro XT build features cherry-picked components designed to get the best out of your price-to-performance ratio. It uses XT components where it counts the most — the rear derailleur and brakes, and opts for components that allow price-savings where possible to accommodate a budget-minded rider. For the cockpit, Pivot supplies a stiff carbon seatpost and bar, plus its signature Pivloc grips that are designed to offer stiffness where it counts, and absorb harsh vibrations to keep your hands feeling good. The LES Fat Pro XT rolls on set of 27.5-inch Sun Ringle Mulefront 80mm wheels laced to Salsa hubs and wrapped in 4-inch Maxxis Mammoth tires for a smooth ride through the snow.
