LES Fat 27.5 Pro XT/Mastodon Complete Mountain Bike

When the snow is falling and you're not ready to call it an end to your riding season, don't fret that layer of white covering the ground and instead hop aboard your LES Fat and hit the frosty trails on a set of fatties. The Pivot LES Fat lets you explore snowy singletrack where the trails are devoid of other users, save for some winter woodland creatures, where you can stay fit and enjoy some new adventures.

The LES Fat ushers in a welcome change from the cumbersome and heavy fat bikes of yesteryear and is instead a lightweight and svelte ride that's fun year around. Instead of construction reserved for building dump trucks as were used to on most fat bikes, the LES Fat uses the same hollow-core molding process, employed on all of Pivot's carbon frames, to create a lighter, stiffer, and stronger winter slayer. This artfully-mastered carbon fiber layup allows for massive weight savings that are only rivaled by its everlasting durability, backed by a 10-year warranty ensuring many years of riding after the so-called riding season has ended.

One of the best features of the LES is its ability to adapt to different riding conditions and wheel sizes allowing for riding all year long. You'll notice that the rear dropouts feature Pivot's Swinger II dropout system that adjusts chainstay length to accommodate a variety of wheel and tire size combinations. You can choose a shorter length for smaller diameter wheels and experience a playful ride, or a longer chainstay for big rubber and extra stability when the snow is sloppy, or you're loaded up with extra weight on its integrated rear rack and three water bottle mounts for a winter bike-packing extravaganza. Besides letting you run 26 or 27.5-inch fat or 27.5 and 29 plus, it also affords the ability to run the Les as a single-speed if that's your flavor. The front end also comes with adjustability at the headtube, with different lower-headset cup options, so you can run the supplied Manitou Mastodon fork as it comes, or install the included 10 or 18-millimeter lower cups if you plan to run different diameter wheels or a rigid fork.

The LES Fat Carbon Pro XT's components feature a build worthy of the frame and maximize its price-to-performance ratio. It uses Shimano XT components for most of the drivetrain bits and brakes and opts for a few SLX parts like the cassette and rotors for some price-savings that'll accommodate the budget-minded rider. For cockpit duties, Pivot supplies the stem, carbon handlebar, and grips. The LES Fat Pro XT rolls on a set of 27.5-inch Fat Sun Ringle Mulefront 80mm wheels wrapped in 3.8-inch Maxxis Minion tires for a smooth ride and plenty of traction through the snow.
