touch screen stinks, menus are horrible
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I love the idea of having individual leg power monitoring (and location of power during rotation), but this head-unit is clunky at best and the touchscreen menus are really difficult to use. resolution of the screen is below average as well. i didn't put it through the wringer, so can't comment on durability, I just didn't like the menu structure or the touchscreen. I'm sticking with my Wahoo Elemnt & Bolt

Don't buy without a Pioneer PM
If you don't have a Pioneer Power Meter to make use of the additional information that this head unit would show, I really don't recommend picking this up. The menu system is clunky, it has some of the worst GPS data I've ever seen (worse than a Garmin Edge 500, which is old enough to attend Elementary school), and is priced higher than the competition. BUT, if you do have Pioneer PM, it's sorta cool cause it shows you where you put your power down in the pedal stroke. Which is cool if you like that sort of thing.

This head unit is hard to read, seldom syncs, rattles like crazy on the post, and not very intuitive when trying to use it. I have attempted to use it several times and even chatted with support a few times about it to try and make it work. It has spent most of its time now in a drawer due to frustration. So much for getting the full features from the pioneer powermeter crankset!

held up perfectly for 2 years
- I've put it through the wringer
I've put a few miles on now with this unit through all types of weather as well. The computer has never let me down, the only thing is that I tend to leave it on and the battery runs down. Charging is easy and lasts me about a week of daily riding. Ideally you put it with the Pioneer cranks and you get an awesome dashboard of information particularly true L and R foot power with where in your pedal stroke the power is coming from. It will work with most other power sources as well.

Great unit; with or without their meter!
- I've put it through the wringer
I have had this unit for about 6 months; and only for the last week have I been able to use it to its full potential, with Pioneer's power meter. Previously, I had been using it to display heart rate, cadence, speed, and all related metrics; I was very satisfied with these features, and have been more impressed with its reliability than the Garmin units I have owned previously. Even if you don't have a power meter, but are looking for a full-featured computer, this is worth your consideration. If you are getting a Pioneer power meter, the CA500 is a no-brainer. I see that this has B&W and a bit smaller screen compared to the 900 with larger higher resolution color screen and larger head unit, but curious how they compare for non back lighted visibility in daylight/bright sun. The features otherwise appear to be the same, is this correct?

Is this compatible with Stages Power meter?
Catie Rowan Thompson
April 26, 2015
The Pioneer cycling computers will work with any ANT+ compatible power meter; Stages included. It can only display the information that the power meter is transmitting, so you will not get the same level of data from the Stages as you would from one of the Pioneer systems. If there is anything else I can do for you, please feel free to contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 801-736-6396 ext 4823.

Can I use the Pioneer computer in conjunction Power2Max power meter?
December 9, 2014
Roy, In theory, you can use any ANT+ device together so it should work, but this computer records so much more information than the Power2max from the cranks I'm not sure what the display would look like missing all that data. Pioneer cranks put out something like 290 data points compared to 10 or so in most.
