Bluetooth Power Meter Installation Kit for Consumer Supplied Cranks

If you're fanatical about your ride data, you need the ability to measure dual-leg power for obtaining the most accurate metrics possible, but doesn't it stink that you usually have to get rid of a perfectly good crankset to do so. Well, you might be in luck if you already own a Shimano Dura-Ace 9100 or Ultegra R8000 crankset as Pioneer gives cyclists a more affordable way to gather precious power data with its Bluetooth Power Meter Installation Kit for Consumer Supplied Cranks. All you have to do is purchase this kit and send in your Shimano Dura-Ace, or Ultegra cranks to Pioneer and it'll keep you updated during the installation process and ship your completed power meter crankset back in five to seven business days after receiving. Once back, you'll get the knowledge of dual-leg power readings to take your training to the next level without spending more money than you have to.

This system uses strain gauges on both arms to measure pedaling force, direction, and overall efficiency as you ride, and it's right on par with industry standards at +/-2% accuracy. The power meter unit has a sleek profile on the inside of the non driveside crank arm and a small tri-lobed Pioneer pod that sits snugly between the top junction of the spider and outer chainring, and only adds 66 grams for both sensors. As you pedal, the sensors capture, with precision and accuracy, force detection at 24 locations at almost 400 times per rotation. By recording information at multiple points, Pioneer is able to deliver a single accurate measurement that takes both crankarms and the entire pedal stroke into consideration.

Riding through significant temperature or elevation fluctuations can wreak havoc on power meter accuracy if it's not able to acclimate on the go. Pioneer knows how frustrating it is to have to re-zero your device on-course, and how tough it is to recover momentum lost while you freewheel to let the unit zero. To address this common problem, it developed Zero Point Calibration with Active Temperature Memory Adjustment for its power meters. Essentially, the technology allows the power meter to anticipate and adapt quickly to environmental changes so that you don't lose access to accurate data when you need it most.

The power meter is compatible with ANT+ and now Bluetooth head units and phones, which makes using it with your favorite fitness apps or other ANT+ and Bluetooth compatible devices simple. To further analyze each of the 24 force vectors individually and gain access to Pioneer's new HDPower Metrics and Cyclo Sphere program, you can add the Pioneer cycling computer to your setup.

Finally, it's important to note that this kit consists of just a magical box, and the process is simple. Just drop your Shimano crankset into the box, drop the box in the mail, and wait for some seven to ten business days. During that time period, the alchemists at Pioneer will be transubstantiating your crankset from a shapely alloy article to a power-gathering data magnet. When the crankset returns to you, it will have a Pioneer power meter installed.
