Prince Disk Ultegra Di2 Complete Road Bike
Pinarello's Dogma tends to get much of the attention, but like a hard-working domestique, the Prince quietly excels and shares much of the Dogma's design DNA. With similar racing geometry and frame details to the Dogma, the Prince Disk brings the storied Pinarello quality to a broader audience by using a different carbon construction. Paired with Shimano's Ultegra Di2 drivetrain for precise electronic shifting, this machine is ready for the races, whether sprinting for the win on the weekend or the county line against your training partners.
Pinarello has several models of the Prince frame, and the standard disc version here is built from T700 carbon fiber for excellent ride quality relative to frame weight. The Prince FX uses a higher grade carbon, T900, and saves a few grams over the standard Prince, though we appreciate the ride comfort afforded by the marginally heavier Prince T700 carbon for those longer stage races and weekend epics.
The Prince shares some of the frame features we've come to know and love from the Dogma series. Asymmetrical carbon tubing construction gives you every advantage and keeps the frame stiff to more effectively transfer power, not wasting any of your strength on a noodly frame. Thru-axles on front and rear further add to the stiffness of the frame, without making the ride quality overly harsh. Aerodynamic fins at the fork drop outs help smooth out air turbulence as wind passes the wheel, so you can more easily cut through the wind.
The Prince meshes seamlessly with Ultegra Di2 thanks to its Think2 E-Link port on the downtube, which provides direct access to charge and update the system. Shimano's Ultegra Di2 is the sweet spot of race-level performance without the pro contract price tag. Shifting is precise and reliable, and you can customize your preferences with Shimano's app, to use either synchro-shift or standard. With the former, the system maintains a better chainline and helps avoid large changes in gearing to keep cadence more steady, saving you energy in the long run. Shimano's Ultegra disc brakes provide powerful speed control even if the weather turns sour, so we can stay rubber-side down and eyes on the prize of the finish. MOst cockpit components complete the build for lightweight and aerodynamic-focused finishes.
