Why We Like The Prince Disk Ultegra Road Bike

Pinarello's Prince Disk Ultegra Road Bike stands as the result of trickled down technology from the current flagship Dogma F12, however, with a more forgiving ride and subtle tweaks to the frame's tube shaping and performance characteristics. The new Prince Disk's Flatback tube profiles result in aerodynamic optimization across every centimeter of the frame. Differences between it and the Dogma F12 are few, however, to tone down the F12's harsh riding qualities for the mid-level Prince, the down tube is narrower (vertically) than its high-performance sibling. The chainstays are another area of focus, which Pinarello makes larger overall compared to the previous Prince for a significant improvement in lateral stiffness that Pinarello claims the rider will feel as soon as the pedals are turned. Overall, the Prince's frame consists of slightly heavier and less stiff T700 unidirectional carbon, compared to the Dogma F12, in an effort by Pinarello to achieve ideal stiffness/performance standard for demanding racers, but at a lower cost.

Aerodynamic optimization is a priority for Pinarello, as seen with the TiCR (Total Internal Cable Routing), which cleans up the front end to reduce aerodynamic drag caused by exposed cable housing. Only the rear derailleur cable and front disc brake hose make subtle appearances where required for operation. Other than the integrated cable routing, the most prominent alteration to the Prince is the new fork, which flows directly into the main triangle for improved aerodynamics. On a quest to end the aerodynamic agitation water bottles tend to produce, the Prince receives an updated bottom bracket exterior, taken directly from the F12; that allows the seat tube's water bottle to sit 5mm lower in the triangle for more optimized airflow.

The Prince Disk is equipped with the Shimano Ultegra drivetrain to deliver trusted and proven reliability for demanding racers, and flat-mount disc brakes for a high degree of power and modulation that can support 140mm rotors.

*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
