While we all aspire to one day own a Dogma F10 for its drop-dead gorgeous Italian lines, race-winning pedigree, and class-leading performance, there's one thing that stands in the way: a pretty hefty price tag. That being said, you can still get a bulk of the engineering, technology, and design that goes into the Dogma and fulfill your dreams of owning a Pinarello with its Gan line of road bikes. The Gan S Ultegra Di2 Complete Bike occupies a spot that gives you that trademark Pinarello aesthetic and the precision of a Shimano electronic groupset all at a price point that is very palatable.
The Gan S features the same eye-catching styling as the Dogma F10, with its signature curves and aerodynamic detailing that make the bike just as stunning as it is fast. The main difference between the two frames is the type of carbon used to make them. While the Dogma F10 boasts the top-end of the top-end Toray T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology, the Gan S consists of more compliant T700 carbon. T700 sacrifices a tiny bit in the weight and stiffness categories, sure, but it drops the overall cost significantly. While this carbon is less rigid than T1100 1K, it's still a high-strength, race-worthy layup. Make no mistake, the Gan S is a race-ready machine.
As with the Dogma F10, this frame incorporates Pinarello's signature asymmetrical design for claimed improvements in power transfer and comfort. The asymmetry in the Gan S' seatstays is less extreme than in the Dogma F10, resulting in a more compliant and comfortable ride while still providing benefits in handling to keep you feeling solid on sweeping descents and punchy climbs. At the top junction of the stays, a wishbone shape serves to provide clean lines and aerodynamic protection to keep the rear brake out of the wind so you don't have to worry about it slowing you down when you don't want it to.
Pinarello also incorporates the same Flatback technology found in the Dogma F10 into the Gan S. The signature oval-front and flattened-back tubing throughout the frame and fork create an aerodynamic profile that manages turbulent air to reduce drag without any extra materials bogging down the scale. An integrated seat clamp and aero seat post add to the wind-cutting advantage to create a clamping system that works very, very well and looks trick in the process.
