The Pinarello Gan S Ultegra Complete Road Bike boasts classic Italian styling and borrows design elements from the industry-leading Dogma F8 at a price point that won't crush your bank account quite like its top-tier cousin. The Gan S sits in the middle of Pinarello's Gan line, pairing the classic Pinarello aesthetics with in Shimano's race-worthy Ultegra components. The pros may ride Dura-Ace only, but we'd challenge any self-sponsored cyclist to make a convincing argument that the handful of grams separating it from Ultegra will be the difference between falling of the back and finishing on the podium.
The Gan S features the same eye-catching styling as the Dogma F8, with its signature curves and aerodynamic detailing making the bike just as stunning as it is fast. The main difference between the two frames is the type of carbon used in their constructions. While the Dogma F8 boasts the top-end of the top-end Toray T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology, the Gan S consists of more compliant T700 carbon. T700 sacrifices a tiny bit in the weight and stiffness categories, sure, but it drops the overall cost significantly. While this carbon is less rigid than T1100 1K, it's still a high-strength layup. Make no mistake, the Gan S is a race-ready machine.
As with the Dogma F8, this frame incorporates Pinarello's signature asymmetrical design for claimed improvements in power transfer and comfort. The asymmetry in the Gan S seatstays is less extreme than in the Dogma F8, resulting in a more compliant and comfortable ride while still providing benefits in handling to keep you feeling solid on sweeping descents and punchy climbs. At the top junction of the stays, a wishbone shape provides clean lines and aerodynamic protection to keep the rear brake out of the wind so you don't have to worry about it slowing you down when you don't want it to.
Pinarello also incorporates the same Flatback technology found in the Dogma F8 into the Gan S. The signature oval-front and flattened-back tubing throughout the frame and fork create an aerodynamic profile that manages turbulent air to reduce drag without any extra materials bogging down the scale. An integrated seat clamp and aero seatpost add to the wind-cutting advantage to get you wound-up like a pouncing cheetah on your way to the finish line.
