Gan Disk 105 Complete Road Bike
We can confidently say that disc brakes on road bikes are here to stay. You simply can't beat the increased modulation and stopping power afforded by discs. So if you've always wanted to own a Pinarello and know you want discs brakes, the time to get one is now. Whether you've signed up for a century, planning on attending the weekday world's ride, or even hitting up a local road race, the Gan Disc 105 Complete Road Bike possess that legendary Pinarello's ride quality, the confidence of disc braking, and Shimano's workhorse 105 drivetrain at a price that makes owning a Pinarello a viable option.
The Gan Disc features similar eye-catching styling as the top-tier Dogma F10, with its signature curves and aerodynamic detailing making the bike as stunning as it is fast. The most notable difference between the two frames is the type of carbon used to make them. While the Dogma F10 boasts the top-end of the top-end Toray T1100 1K Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology, the Gan consists of more compliant T600 carbon that sacrifices a bit in the weight and stiffness categories but drops the overall cost drastically. The Gan Disc incorporates a few tweaks to the lay-up compared to its rim-brake equipped sibling and reinforcement at the brake mounts to accommodate the extra load of disc braking forces.
As with the Dogma F10, this frame incorporates Pinarello's asymmetrical design for claimed improvements in power transfer and comfort. The asymmetry in the Gan Disc's seatstays is less extreme than in the Dogma F10, resulting in a more compliant and comfortable ride while still providing benefits in handling to keep you feeling solid out on the road. At the top junction of the stays, a wishbone shape serves to provide clean lines and aerodynamic protection to keep the rear brake out of the wind so you don't have to worry about it slowing you down when you don't want it to.
The Gan Disc also incorporates the Dogma F10's Flatback technology. Flatback tubes feature a signature ovalized face and flattened back to create an aerodynamic profile that slices cleanly through the wind without any extra materials bogging down the scale. It also reduces the deleterious effect of crosswinds on lateral stability while managing turbulent, drag-inducing air slop in the tubes' wake. An integrated seat clamp and aero seat post add to the wind-cutting advantage and offer clean, uninterrupted frame lines.
The Gan Disc 105 Complete Road Bike features carefully engineered internal cable routing compatible with both mechanical and electronic shifting systems for an added dose of aerodynamics and crisp, clean lines. It's finished with a threaded Italian bottom bracket that does away with PressFit's creak and longevity issues, a trend that we're happy to see resurfacing across the industry.

Great entry-level carbon Pinarello
30 years ago, I got my first 'big-pants' bike - a mid 80-ish Pinarello Asolo. I finally parted with it a month or so ago and took the big step to carbon fiber. I had read one review of it explaining the origin of 'GAN' as a loose translation or an acronym or some such thing of 'garden of eden' - meaning you'll feel like you're in the garden of eden while riding it, I suppose. That's a pretty strong promise but I was game. You won't be disappointed. This is one fine riding bike. Sure, it's not as light as the prince or dogma but the price point more than makes up for it. One thing to be aware of though is the seat post. In its quest for a better, sexier mousetrap there, Pinarello has created a little creaking machine. You WILL need some carbon fiber assembly paste (CC sells it). After you get that sorted out, the smiles and miles will come easy.
What is the widest tire width that will fit on the Gan disc 105?
Hey Thad, The Gan Disk 105 Complete Road Bike can fit up a 28mm width tire.
25 for sure. 28s might be a little dicey.
