Comfortable power transfer.
While many mountain bike shoes force riders to choose between stiff power transfer and comfortable walkability, the Pearl Izumi Women's X-Project 3.0 Cycling Shoes bring you the best of both worlds. They provide the powerful energy transfer of a fully rigid carbon fiber sole, without reducing its ability to grip over rough terrain and flex in the right places when you're walking over impassable trail obstacles.
To achieve this balance, Pearl Izumi outfits this shoe with a full-length carbon fiber sole plate that's tapered to provide just enough flex when you're walking and hiking over trail obstacles and loose dirt surfaces while still allowing the efficient power transfer needed for rapid acceleration and quick uphill bursts. Run-shoe EVA foam placed under the heel dissipates impact and alleviates discomfort when you're hiking over craggy, rock-strewn trails. Co-molded rubber tips placed over hollow TPU lugs provide tenacious grip without adding excess bulk or unnecessary weight.
The X-Project 3.0 closure consists of a 25-degree angled strap system that follows the anatomic curves of the foot for a precise fit. The upper buckle securely tightens to remove slop within the shoe, while the lower hook-and-loop straps secure the mid and fore-foot for a precise, customized fit that's easily adjustable on the fly.

Quality shoe and really cute!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
These shoes fit great! They make biking so much more fun than my old mountain bike shoes. The pink color is so cute. They run true to size. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8 and the 39.5 is perfect. The toe box is a little wider than some other brands (still not wide though) which worked well for me.
