Description

Thermal Lite Glove

For many cyclists, fall is the most rewarding time of the year to cycle, whether it's twilit spins after work, weekend rambles along singletrack, or a cyclocross hammerfest. Because we love fall cycling so much, just the thought of the Pearl Izumi Thermal Lite Gloves, the Japanese manufacturer's take on the classic knit glove, gets us a little giddy.

The Thermal Lite Gloves' lightweight, insulating construction recommends them as your sole protection in moderate conditions or as a liner under a shell for more serious inclement weather. Silicone grip on the palms and fingers keep you on the bars, and reflective logos on the backs help keep you visible in the low-light conditions of a long autumn dusk.

The Pearl Izumi Thermal Lite Gloves are available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the color Black.

  • Lightweight warmth for the road comes in these cycling gloves
  • P.R.O. Thermal Lite fabric provides ideal warmth in mild conditions
  • Silicone-screened finger tips make for a locked-in grip
  • Reflective elements bolster your visibility in dark conditions
  • Lightweight and packable for easy storing when the weather changes

Best Liner Glove

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I love these gloves. They're the perfect weight for fall/spring riding or as liner gloves. For the price I haven't found better. Durability is good - I've been using these for 2-3 seasons and until a run in with a chain link fence they've held up admirably. I have 2 complaints - the material really isn't that grippy which makes it perfect for a liner but doesn't give you a solid grip on a mountain bike grip, and the fingers aren't touch screen compatible. Fit is true to size.

Castelli > PI

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have these and the castelli version. Do yourself a favor and spend the few extra dollars for castelli. I’ve had both for 4 years and castelli’s are like the first time I put them on. PIs are wrinkled and lost integrity after 10 washes. Just don’t waste $ on these. Savings is not worth it

Fine Glove, not for touchscreen

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

The glove is fine. Fit seems good. I don't really like the textured bits, I find them overly grabby. Let's see how long they last - they are really cheap so replacing them after a season or two is expected. There's not enough high viz (yellow or reflective material) on the back of the hands - I really like signaling my lane changes using high viz hands. The lack of touchscreen compatibility makes me wish I had spent a little more on something with that.

Cool weather gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large

I have a pair of these that I bought to replace a pair of snowboard glove liners that I wore out using them for cool weather cycling. They are almost identical in weight and fit. My hand is 8.7 so I'm right on the line btwn m/l according to the chart, and that's exactly how the large fits me. I wanted a little more insulating airspace, so I erred on the side of the looser fit of the large. Fingers are also quite long on my regular-sized hands. I can't imagine riding a bike in a glove big enough to use these as a liner no matter how they fit you (maybe mittens). On the other hand (no pun intended), I can get them on over my regular unpadded long-fingered cycling gloves, and the fit is perfect. By themselves, I find them comfortable down to about 50F. Going to try wearing them over my regular gloves in the coming days for the improved fit, and to see if I can increase the comfort range with the layering options. Nice long elastic cuff, too, that fits easily over my jacket sleeve.
