Give yourself some Sugar.

After a sunny ride, you no longer have to endure an evening out with an awkward tan line when wearing a short skirt, that is if you were wearing Pearl Izumi's Sugar Women's Short's. This is thanks, in part, to the shorts' five-inch inseam. However, that's only one benefit that makes these bottoms one of Izumi's bestsellers.

A six-panel, anatomic shape compliments the female body, which has been further enhanced through the incorporation of Izumi's SELECT Transfer fabric. This material features a four-way stretch that conforms to your contours, while also being quite efficient at moisture management. As a result, the shorts will stay cool and dry over the course of your ride.

Furthering this level of comfort, Izumi included its Woman's Tour 3D chamois. This insert provides a next-to-skin fit that lets the Select Transfer fabric to effectively pull perspiration from you skin and quickly evaporated it -- allowing you to stay dry and irritation free.

Silicon leg grippers hold the shorts in place while pedaling, and the seams are sewn flat in order to be smooth against your skin.

The Pearl Izumi Sugar Women's Shorts are available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black, Black/white, Black/lime, Black/orchid, Black/scuba blue, Black/paradise pink, Black/true red, and White/black.

Comfortable cycling Short

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

These shorts work well for me. I like the length, helps with the cycles tan when I wear regular shorts. They are comfortable on rides of 30-40 miles. I am 5'3" 120 lbs and Med is right size. I bought 3 !

Absolutely Wonderful

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: My size

The best part about these shorts is that they have adequate padding, but they don't feel like a super-sized adult diaper.. lol. I normally only wear P. I. shorts. I haven't owned Sugar Shorts for a very long time, though. They didn't disappoint. I only rode 18 miles today, (first time in these shorts) and there wasn't even a break-in period. I'll probably wear these exclusively until I lose all the weight I've gained.. then I'll definitely purchase a smaller size of this same short.

Comfy and Breathable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

These were a great purchase for under my biking shorts because they offer protection without being too big and bulky. Overall they are pretty comfy, the waist is slightly tight but not enough for me to return them or get a bigger size. The material is breathable and comfortable. The padding is perfect for me. Great summer pick!

Comfy and cute

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

My wife and daughter said that this short are comfy and they love the length and fit great!

Great quality at a low price point.

too short, too tight, too cheap

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: M

If you're more worried about looking cute than you are about performing well, then these are probably fine.

These are inexpensive shorts because they're cheap. When you receive them, you'll immediately be able to tell that PI used substandard materials- The shorts are scratchy, loose, too tight, and not at all forgiving to the way you actually move in the saddle. When I was wearing them, people actually thought I was wearing liner shorts for a mountain bike- theyre that unflattering and cheap. I'd spend a little more and get a better pair.

Not for small leg ladies

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

The legs of the shorts creep up when riding and I find myself constantly pulling them down. I like the length (they are shorter than regular cycling shorts) but I don't like that they don't stay put. The padding is also in an interesting place. It does not cover the areas of my butt that need padding. I would not buy again.

Functional and cute

I love these. They're comfy, they fit great, and they're super cute. The length is perfect and the chamois does its job.

Didn't fit me - but they might fit you

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

I did really like these but they just didn't fit me correctly. I'm pretty average for a woman but these were incredibly narrow. If you are a narrow woman - these are probably perfect for you. I had to return them. I bought a Small and couldn't even get them up.

Great shorter length

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I love the option of the shorter length in bike shorts (ya know so you can have two or even three tan lines on your quads). I thought the padding was adequate for 2 hour long rides...though they were a bit snugger than my other small pearl izumis but I definitely have big quads.

Works for short rides

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I really love the fit of these, and the chamois works great for shorter rides. I need a thicker chamois for longer rides.

Not what I am used to

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

For starters the length was perfect, exactly what I was looking for. I prefer shorter length shorts in the hot months. However the quality of fabric was very inferior to Izumi shorts I have worn in the past (approximately 3 pairs). The fabric is thin and offers no compression support. In fact after a long ride the shorts are actually a bit loose and move around. Not the same quality I was expecting. I realize that these shorts aren't the most expensive however I was disappointed with them in comparison to previous shorts from the same brand that were around the same price point. I will probably look for a different brand for my next purchase.

Great looking comfort!

Bought a pair 2 years ago and still going strong. Chamois is probably my favorite; I also have Cannondale and Canari bottoms. I converted a friend over from her Specialized; helped correct a MAJOR comfort issue! The waist band sits very nicely and stays put. The short length is great.

The best padded cycling shorts I own.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are my go-to cycling shorts. Hearing rumors of Pearl Izumi's "epic padding", and especially women's padding, I had to try a pair. They are affordable, tuck in your tummy ever so slightly as you ride and offer amazing comfort for 40+ mile rides. Fit great, durable and comfortable!

My Bestie loves them!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These bike shorts have saved me so much pain! The padding is shaped to not only fit my body, but also my bike. It is light weight, durable, and fit's nicely underneath my work pants and skirts. These are comfortable to wear for only 5 minutes and up to 8+ hours for the extreme biker. Overall, these are comfortable, durable, and give me the protection I need to enjoy biking.

Pearl Izumi Sugar Women's Shorts

I love the way these shorts fit. I wear them for RAGBRAI and for the BRAN. I have zero issues with them re: the quality (materials and how they hold up on LONG rides with frequent breaks) I wish they were a little cheaper so I could purchase many pairs

good beginner/short ride shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have two pairs of these Sugar Shorts. I bought one two years ago, and the other last year. I bought them because I liked that they were shorter and that the bottom cuff of the shorts weren't too tight on my thighs, plus the price was great.

But I've started to ride more often and for longer. These shorts do not do the job for that- not enough compression, and padding is weird. I still really like wearing them for short rides (30-40 min)... but if that's not what you want- then bite the bullet and get the more expensive pair with better compression and better padding- it's worth it.
