Pro Bib Shorts
When you know you're in for a long day in the saddle, grab the Pro Bib Shorts from Pearl Izumi and you can rest assured knowing that you'll be comfortable for the duration of the ride. Crafted with highly technical fabrics and a refined fit, the Pro Bib Short simply disappears and lets you focus on the road ahead.
Pearl Izumi bestows this bib short with its supportive and breathable PRO Escape 1:1 chamois and ultra-soft Italian PRO Transfer fabric creating a short that will be your go-to throughout the season. Seven specially designed panels minimize the number of seams for a better fit. Up top, the wide, laser cut bib straps sit softly against your body, resisting twisting and binding for a comfortable, supportive fit. Raw edges at the hems create smooth transitions from the short and your skin and it looks as good as it feels. Finally, leg openings get a printed silicone gripper to hold them securely in place throughout the ride.
- Long-distance bibs short with race-day fit and functionality
- Contoured fit follows your body movements in the saddle
- Italian PRO Transfer wicks moisture continuously to keep you cool
- Laser cut bib provides support while helping you stay dry
- Soft, breathable PRO Escape 1:1 chamois cushions while moving with you
- Silicone leg grippers keep the openings in place
- BioViz reflective elements help you be seen in low-light

Fits as advertised and very comfortable. Chamois feels a little bulky but will probably thin out with use and washing. Straps are very soft and light fitting almost like they’re not there.

I started riding in May after my gym shut down. In love with cycling. I am somewhat of a gear geek, I will admit. I started in lower level bibs and after trying some premium bibs, I will never ever go back. Quality is very important when comparing bibs. I have a pair of La Passione which I like but have not worn since I bought these PIs. I have the top line Rapha bib and like them, but reach for these PIs when possible. If you have sit bone issues, I suggest trying 2 things... 1- get fit for your bike, then tinker to get it just right; 2- spend money on bibs. The chamois on these Pro bibs is perfect; firm and supportive of my sit bones and not bulky on the outer edge where padding isn't so much needed. with plenty of front coverage when in the drops. You will not find a better bib for under $200, and for me, they are preferred over my $270 Raphas. Do some research and learn about the PI chamois. I literally can't feel the shoulder straps at all. I went from having sit bone pain in the first 3 miles to riding 70 miles and getting off the bike feeling great. I was willing to spend whatever I could to not have pain and these are it. If I could suggest anything to PI... please make them a touch longer (I'm 6'3" so could just be me). The blue is a beautiful blue and the black is a perfect black. High end Pearl gear is excellent. I personally staying away from the lower level PI though. Good luck!

Preface: I’ve only worn these shorts for one ride for about 2 hours (30 miles) but wanted to write a review. This is only my second set of higher-end bib shorts (the other being specialized, and you can throw in the Black Bibs for what it’s worth), but they’re the best I’ve had in my limited experience. The straps are like butter! They just melt away after a few minutes of wearing them. Silicon grippers in the legs work well and aren’t too grippy that they’re pulling leg hairs. Chamois is comfortable and had no issues there. I saw some other reviews that said the chamois padding came up too far in the front. It definitely has more padding there than other shorts I’ve used but it wasn’t uncomfortable at all, and I could see it being a positive in case you don’t sit back on your saddle exactly right after a sprint or hard effort. Prevents any accidental clippage - if you catch my drift. I did notice that on the inside of the straps, there are exposed seams. When I was trying them on at first it felt like they were going to rub and aggravate my stomach, but had no problems at all! Completely forgot about the seams 2 min in to the ride I’d give 4.5/5 if I could. 4/5 just because I’ve only ridden in them once, so may be back to update. Overall very satisfied. (One last thing, I’m tall 6’2” but have a short inseam 31/32 inches, large fit perfect.) Edit: 250 + miles later and these are my favorite bibs

So far have only worn them once on a 20 miler, but they are extremely comfortable and fit great and are true to size, not like other Italian biking garments that seem to run small. The fabric feels very soft yet supportive and the chamois is padded nicely, not too bulky yet definitely provides the cushioning I was looking for. The only reason I did not give them five stars is that the inner seam stitching Is not flat (would like to rate them 4.5 stars!), wasn’t uncomfortable during my ride but afterwards I had definite seam marks; just think that high end performance garments should have flat seams. However, I highly recommend these as quality bib shorts and consider it a steal to have gotten them on sale!

Excellent bib, really comfortable and has really nice gel on the inside so no ride-up on the legs. Chamois is very good- on the thicker side, which I like. Overall, this product was a much better fit than other brands at this price point and overall much better as I am not super super slim like the Euro brands tend to be (which is still funny to think since I'm not THAT big haha).

Seems like I start with Pearl Izumi products, then try lots of other vendors but return to PI because they just fit better. Pad I was worried that these shorts didn't have a Cytech pad and it seemed slimmer. However the pad fits me perfectly. No excess. No wrinkles. Just padding in the right spots. And comfort even after hours of riding Straps The straps on these shorts just disappear when you wear the shorts. After you wear these you will notice, not in a good way, how the straps on other shorts dig into your shoulders. Fit I'm slim at 5'9" and 135. I tried multiple pairs of Assos shorts which are sized by height and they just don't fit. The PI PRO Bib shorts fit better than any other shorts I've tried. I realize that shorts can be like ski boots. What's good for one person may not be perfect for another. These really work well for me. Highly recommended. Ordering another pair.

After reading all the glowing reviews I decided to try these out. I've had several PI bibs in the past and have been happy with them. I'm not sure if I received a pair that had been sewn incorrectly or something. The first thing I noticed when trying them on was the chamois seemed to be way off in positioning, it came so far up in the front it felt like It was going to hit my belly button, leaving my backside uncovered. For a second I questioned myself if I had put them on backwards or something (they were on correctly). I sat on my bike with them on just to see and again it felt like the chamois was totally off, really high in the front and missing some of my backside that was in contact with the saddle. Then I noticed while sitting on the bike that the seam running up the middle front of the left leg was coming unstitched. With all the great reviews it seems like maybe I just received a dud. I decided to just send them back and look for something else. I did really like the straps however, they seemed super comfortable and not too tight.

I recently picked up a pair of the Pearl Izumi Pro Bib Short's, and I wish I had done it a long time ago! The Pro Escape Chamois is very comfortable and gives you incredible support where you need it most. The fabric is silky smooth while also feeling very breathable. With fewer panels compared to many other brands, PI did a printed on Honey comb-like silicone grip on the lower panels of the shorts which I find to evenly compress on the legs and keeping the shorts in place. This new grip system does not feel tight in one spot like you get with the traditional silicone band on the lower part of most bibs. I was a little torn on sizing, In a lot of my bibs I normally will go with a size small, but after reading some of the reviews I made the decision to go with a size medium. I feel I made the right call and am very happy with my decision. I'm 5'11" 150lbs, 29-30" waist. In general, I would recommend sizing based on the "Team" Chart, as I feel it gets more precise. if I were to go on the "Standard" chart I would have ordered a small, and they would have likely been too small. I'm very excited to be able to do longer rides with comfort, Highly recommend!

Everything about these makes them a joy to wear. From the fabric feeling great against the skin to the chamois pad providing comfort for miles. This is the first high-end bib I've had and the money is well worth it in my opinion. Hoping to buy more.

Haven't had these bibs for too long (~500 miles in them) but so far they are great - definitely the most comfortable ones I have ever owned. The fabric feels great against your skin and is form fitting without feeling too compressive or tight. I was a little skeptical of the unhemmed edges but I haven't seen any signs of fraying and the lack of a raised seam edge there really does feel better. Got mine on sale which made the price a bit easier to justify. So definitely an indulgence, but they do feel terrific.

Only one 2.5 hour ride in these, but they feel great. Flat shoulder straps and no stitch leg material is great and length is good. Chamois is best I have - over Castelli and Velocio. Will order another pair when on sale.

First impression as I started to put these bibs on was that they were going to be too small. {I'm 6' 148lb and bought a medium.) They fit like a second skin - and once on. like your skin, you never give them another thought! Nothing binds, nothing chafes. They are my new favorites despite several pairs of earlier Pearl Izumi Pro bibs already in the closet.

For this redesign (2019), Pearl added an entire extra inch of length to the inseam-- making these bibs WAY too long for a lot of people. I've worn nothing but Pearl ELITE and PRO bibs for years now, but they've sized me out with their redesigned bibs. I know bibs cant fit everyone, but its disappointing to go from having nothing but ELITE and PRO bibs in my gear closet-- to no longer being able to wear them anymore at all. If "The Black Bib" can offer up multiple inseam lengths, why can't Pearl? Just overall very, very disappointed. If these fit you, they're a great bib. But steer clear if you're on the shorter end of the spectrum because they're just gonna be too long compared to the old PRO Escape bibs.

I discovered Izumi when I took advantage of the winter gear sales and picked these up on sale too. Rode for the last week and it’s the nicest pad I’ve tried, it stayed in place and I didn’t need chamois cream for a 90 minuter. Looking forward to trying a century on them soon.
