Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Softshell WxB Shoes Covers $99.95
Keep dry, keep warm, and keep cycling.
When it comes to cold-weather cycling gear, function is always the most important consideration, and the functional attributes we're after are warmth, dryness, and durability. The P.R.O. Softshell WxB shoe cover provides on all fronts. The titular P.R.O. Barrier WxB fabric keeps the wet out, while a generous 100 grams of Primaloft One lining insulates your feet on days when the temperature drops to freezing.
Pearl Izumi's two stage hook and loop closure has been updated from its previous iteration to make pulling these things on even easier — something we appreciate since we seem to never remember our booties until we already have our gloves tucked snugly under our jacket sleeves. No more gloved fumbling at an impossibly unforgiving shoe cover opening. We also appreciate the aesthetically striking contrast of the white band across the top of the foot. We all occasionally have trouble mustering the courage for a ride in the low 30s, but, as silly as it sounds, stylish details in our winter kit do provide an extra bit of motivation. The soles are interwoven with Kevlar aramid for durability and reflective highlights on the outer sides keep you visible in low-light conditions.
The Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Softshell WxB Shoe Covers are available in four sizes ranging from Small to X-Large in the color Black. Please note that these shoe covers are only compatible with external road cleats.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
These work great with thin wool socks in 25-->35 degrees in Western PA.
Good deal when they were on sale
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Finally got to try these out on a 1.5 hour road ride in 35 degree weather with a 15mph wind in St. Charles, MO. A big big step up from the thermal PI toe covers I was using. I tested these out a with a thin Defeet merino wool socks and Mavic shoes. I was starting to feel a little coldness towards the end but a beefier sock might help that.
