Definitely NOT a fanny pack.

Instead of conjuring images of Bermuda shorts, socks with sandals, and pasty British cruise-shippers, Patagonia's Lightweight Travel Mini Hip Pack makes you think of abandoned Cambodian temples, Brazilian street festivals, and cobbled Czech alleyways. It sits around your waist like a traditional fanny pack, but can also be slung comfortably over your shoulder and even packs into its own internal pocket when you have your passport, phone, wallet, and emergency snack tucked away elsewhere.

Patagonia Hip Pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Perfect size for a cell phone, wallet, and keys. Really lightweight but was durable enough to handle a handful of moutain bike rides so far. Would definitely be perfect for a short jog or hike. not quite big enough for a water bottle but can fit one 12oz can of a beverage of choice.

Patagonia Mini Hip Pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First off I dig the color selection of this pack. I got the purple and orange to pay homage to the 90s-era colors. The pack is quite small but easily fits a wallet, phone, keys, maybe some food. Definitely has capacity for a 12oz can of your choosing as well!!

Great for Travel

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used this for a three week trip to Asia. It worked out awesome. This pack is perfect for keeping all your important items in one place and safe. I kept my money, passport, camera with extra batteries in this, and still had room. Light and comfortable to wear.

Perfect for cycling/running & travel.

This was smaller than I expected, but that is a good thing for me. I only need room for iPhone, cash and a few essentials, comfortable to wear on hip or over shoulder.

Fanny Packs will never go out of style

I was looking for a quality fanny pack primarily for cross country skiing and shorter hikes and this Patagonia lightweight travel mini hip pack fit the bill perfectly. The main drawback with this pack is that it doesn't hold a full sized water bottle so I had to purchase a .5L collapsible water bottle - no big deal. I was debating getting the larger pack so it could hold more water but at that point I would just use my lightweight backpack. The color is so bright and fun that I will use it when I attend concerts or any other event where I want to be hands-free.

    Awesome little hip pack!

This will not be a politically correct review. I love "hip" packs, so much so that I still call them "fanny" packs because that's what they used to be called when I first fell in love with them. My last such pack was fairly large, and while I thought it rocked, my bride (of now 20 years) decided early in our marriage that my fanny pack was totally gay (in a South Park sense, of course), and refused to let me wear it. I went with black with this little Patagonia pack (accessory Man Bag), and it's as small as it can be and still fit my wallet, my big i-phone, a couple protein bars, and a few other things. I love it. I wear it skiing, hiking, or just out and about outdoors, and while my bride kind of frowns, she can deal with it. Two big major thumbs up. Saved my marriage!! Now don't need to go shopping for a second wife who appreciates mini light weight hip packs, which are totally "hip." It's about 4" high and 7-8 inches wide. Love it!!

    Style and function

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm not sure if it's just me but fanny packs should have never gone out of style. This is the greatest accessory that has happened to me in a while, it fits my wallet phone and a couple extra necessities, not to mention I think it looks pretty darn cool since Patagonia did a great job with the colors and fitting. I use it for running errands to simply running (because who hasn't struggled with where to put your phone when you want to listen to music but your wearing leggings that don't have pockets).

    Europe trip

Used this during the days in Europe. Easy way to carry small things without having to worry about being pickpocketed.

      Works good

This works good for it's intended use which was to bring my cellphone with me on walks and runs with my dogs.... especially having an older dog who I sometimes think won't finish his walks. Thinking back on this purchase the price is a little high for what it is but I guess you're paying for the name brand.

        Versatile Travel Buddy

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Yayayaya! I love this. At first, I thought, " could this fanny pack differ from any other fanny pack?" I'll tell you how! Ample pocket space, padded and cushy underside, water resistant exterior, and the straps are incredibly easy to tighten or loosen. Sometimes I tighten them all the way up and hold it like a mini clutch. I love this thing. My main purpose for it is to make change when I'm selling art in festivals, but I know it would be just as killer one a hike to carry the essentials. I use it to carry my phone and wallet when I'm skateboarding. 10/10!

        Excellent size

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack is the right size for ditching a pack or bag if you want to keep it minimal. There is room for even the plus sized phones as well as keys and anything else you might want to carry. For the biking side, it can hold a tube, co2 inflator or a compact pump, tire levers, as well as some gels or food too. Not too much extra room where it is flapping around on your waist while you are trying to do things which makes it nice.

Is it fully water proof? If I were to take it to a water park would my belongs get wet in the zipper pouches?

this is not waterproof at all. There is a DWR coating for light moisture, but you need something more substantial to take to the waterpark, or a ziplock bag inside this hip pack to keep everything dry.

        Unanswered Question

How big is the pack? I know it's 61 cu in. But I need to know if it will hold my phone..and my phone is pretty big. What is the height width and length of the inside pocket?

        Perfect Hiking Holster

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this fanny for my sis and she loves it! Fun colors and perfect size! Big enough to fit iPhone and essentials. She uses it on shorter hikes. She also said it is very comfortable to wear when hiking. Definitely a good go to fanny to holster your essentials on a short hike
