Park Tools

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

What can you say, Park Tools, #1 bike tools. Made from quality product and will last a life time.

Cut it out...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these... and I hate them. The cutters work for a little bit then they stop working. Mine are currently seized up a bit and dont open unless you pull the arms apart. The BEST part about them is the little cable end clamp underneath the pivot bolt. If these have been given a 5 star review they haven't been used enough. Oh... one more thing the little wire that holds the arms together - that'll break/bend or get in the way when you go to cut. The grips last a long time though, so thats good.

Cut it out...

Excelent tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a must have for those that work on their bike at home, it's also the choice of the pros. Trusty, well built and like most park tools lasts forever

Cuts Clean and Crimps

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are my favorite cable and housing cutters I've ever used. They cut brake and shifting cables cleanly, better than others I've tried previously. The crimper tool is awesome, and essential for installing new cables and housing. Don't waste your time buying anything else!

Just buy it!!!!!

I tried to get by without this tool and it cost me a new cable, housing and shifter. Once I got the Park Tool Cable Cutter the whole job took 10 minutes to get it done right. I wish I had just bit the bullet and got the right tool for the job the first time!

Be the friend that has one

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If no one in your circle of riding buddies has one, make sure you do. Wire cutters work but make messy cuts. These cut cleanly, have a crimper on the inside, and just look better in your tool box or on the work bench. Can't mistake those blue tools for anything else.

    Park Tools

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great for any home mechanic looking to build a good tool set for working on their bikes.

    You need it

If you're building tinkering with bikes much you will run into a situation where you need these cable cutters. You can try to get by without them and butcher the ends of some cables or you can invest in these and know they'll probably outlive you

      perfect tool

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

this tool is a must have when working on bikes. It cuts right through the housing and cables without smashing the housing and the crimpers are an added bonus. Great tool!

      Must Have

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a must have tool for anyone building bikes. A good set of cable cutters is a necessity. Worth every penny spent. Park Tools quality construction.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Fantastic tool that works and feels great. Solid construction from a great brand. Definitely a must-have.

      It cuts!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Not much to say really. It cuts cables clean and the crimper works great. Typical Park Tool quality!

      My favorite

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Cuts great but my favorite part is the built in crimper. I could never seem to use pliers to crimp and having everything is one tool and so easy to use makes me so happy!! LOVE IT!!

      Clean Cuts!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Super handy tool that makes very clean cuts on mechanical or hydraulic cable / housing. Definitely worth adding to your tool kit.

      Add it to the setup

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the second pair I've bought. A must have if you're doing any home maintenance. No frayed cables with this bad boy.

      Snip Snip

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've always used other cable/housing snips and have struggled with frayed cables and smashed housings...until I bought this.

      Get it!

      Solid construction

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This was one of the first cycling specific tools I got that felt it was worth its weight in gold. If you've tried cutting housing or cables with anything other than a dedicated tool, you've probably been disappointed and heading back to your LBS for a new cable. For simple basic maintenance of replacing your housing every year or so, these are mandatory. They pay for themselves quickly and will last for years and years to come.

      Spectacular quality

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Superior quality to the marine cable cutters loaned to someone back in the day and forgotten. Cheaper, too. Expect these to be an heirloom.

Clean cut through JagWire housings, needing only minor work with an awl to open up the cut. Clean cut thru the JagWire cables, no fraying at all.
