Not the Park Tool of Yesteryear

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've used Park Tools almost exclusively in the past but I think competition is driving them to cheapen their products. That's a bad business decision that guarantees failure. I purchased this set since torx is becoming more common on bikes and I wanted a separate set for my bike workbench from my other garage roll-away.
These just plain look cheap from the get-go. Worse, the wrench size markings are almost impossible to read. The embossing is shallow. They look like the cheapest Chinese tools one can buy. Pitiful. How difficult would it be to mold large and easily read numbers in the handles? Furthermore, it doesn't come with a holder with the sizes displayed either. I checked and buying a holder from Park Tool is ridiculously priced. Park Tool will no longer be my default selection for tools. The German company SKS is now offering tools and I'll give them a try next time. I've also found Tacx tools to be quite good.
Time will tell how well these hold up but I'm initially very disappointed and again, will look elsewhere in the future.

Park T Handle Hex Wrench

I would do a little bit more shopping before I would opt for this set. The wrenches are pretty flimsy and cheaply made. I would expect to pay no more than twenty bucks for a set like this. There are a fair number of better sets for around the same price. I just didn't do enough research before I jumped in.
