Master of the chain.
Master links have made our lives much easier in the world of bike maintenance, but that doesn't mean chains are completely hassle free. When caked with dirt and corrosion master links can be difficult to remove by hand as they were intended, so reach for the Park Tool Master Link Pliers. The MLP-1.2 Master Link Pliers are designed with specially sized jaws for fitting into a master link and are easy to use by squeezing together to open the link, or pulling the handles apart to close the link. The pliers are compatible with all chains from 5 through 12 speed that use a master link.
- Pliers for easy chain maintenance
- Works for 5-12 speed chains with masterlink
- Enables easy chain breaking on rusty and dusty chains

Must have for 11 speed chains
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Does what it says. The quick link on my Dura Ace 11 speed chain is really stiff, this tool both removes and install the link. Not sure how I will install a 12speed XTR link on my Mtn bike if I ever need to repair on the trail. Holding the real wheel and stomping on the pedal is not going to be easy. Lets hope I never need to fix a chain when riding.

Park Tools #1 tools, quality product and will last a life time. If you are a wrench turner like myself. On par with Craftsman or Snap-On

Sturdy tool

Does what it's meant to do and feel very high quality. Even though it's possible to undo a quick link without this tool, it's near impossible without the tool.

Breaks the chain...in a good way.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
You can break a chain with pliers but this is perfect to pop a quick link and swap chains or pull it off to clean it. Won't wear this tool out.

Master Link Pliers

These are great to have in the shop. They release and rejoin quick/master links very easily. For the price I feel they are right in line with a simple specialty tool should cost. I recommended them to any one that works on their own bikes. A chain breaker tool will work as well, but these make the job much easier. These work on chain sizes from 7-8 speed all why to down to narrow 12 speed chains. With a wife and two kids that mountain bike as well as myself, I am fixing a chain on a regular basis. I just wish I bought a pair of these sooner.

For any tool box
Now that Shimano has gone back to quicklinks (to join SRAM), this is a must have for any tool box. Sure, you could technically use some needle nose pliers, but these arent too pricey and do the job well.

I didn't have one of these for the longest time, and now that I do it makes everything so much easier. it can be used to pull a quick-link out, or to put a new quick-link in.

Works perfect

I was tired of using needle nose pliers to open the master links, where I'd often times mar the link. These have one purpose, and they do it very well.

Using master links on your chain?

Then you need this ... as much as we like to say we can open and close master links with our bare hands, this tool makes it ever so much easier.
