Description

One tool for all on-trail maintenance.

Whether you have to tune your derailleur, change a flat, or fix a chain, the Park Tool I-Beam Mini Fold-Up Tool includes what you need to get the job done right. A selection of hex wrenches, a T25 star drive, and a flathead screw driver helps you adjust, tighten, or loosen just about anything on your bike. Park Tool integrated a chain tool for those nasty on-trial chain breaks, and a tire-lever helps you get peel off the rubber to replace a flat. The I-Beam Mini Tool even includes two sizes of spoke wrenches to help you straighten a bent wheel.

Minimal tool that has everything I need.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really enjoy this tool. I used to have 2 (one for my road bike and one for my mountain bike), but then I went on a trip and Ireland airport security confiscated it on the way back from a trip. Jerks. My only complaint is that the mounting slides/tabs to keep the tool all together on seem to break on the tire lever/chain breaker handle. Its not as big of a deal since I just leave it all in my saddle bag or my hydration bag. Overall I would recommend.

Handy Tool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great for emergency tool in the pack, a little tricky in tight places, but overall, comes in handy, has saved me and some friends before with minor adjustments needed.

GREAT LITTLE TOOL

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

QUALITY: haven't had to use it yet out in the wild, but tested it a bit and it loosed up nicely. Initially, a bit tight but no big deal.
SIZE: compact and easily fits in this product EVOC SADDLE BAG TOUR
WEIGHT: Feels a bit heavy, but I'm not hardcore so this doesn't bother me. I'm not an olympian.
OVERALL: Solid purchase, happy with the initial quality & size

Great Multi tool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Has all the right allen wrench sizes. Has a great chain tool design and great little tire iron to help with flats. If you are looking for a great tool that will fit in a little pocket this is it. Like other reviews have said it is a little sticky when you want to flip out a single tool, but it loosens up really quickly... so no problems there.

Broke first try

Good looking tool with lots of options. Manufactured very tight. When i opened it, they all came out together and when I was pushing a smaller allen key out of the way, it snapped off. WTF? I have always like Park tools for their quality but this not so much.

    Good tool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Its a nice tool, with many features. But is heavy and its dificult to use in small spaces.

    Solid tool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Really well built and has everything. I haven't had it for long, so the tools are still a little sticky when I swing them out, but that could change with use

    Everything you need.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Very solid tool, a bit on the heavy side but it is well built. Especially impressed that Park Tools managed to include a little tire lever into the unit. Havent had to use it yet but know it can handle most trail/road side fixes.

    Great Tool.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but i guess that is a good thing as it means my bike hasn't broke. haha It has everything i could every need for a quick fix. Only issue is when you want to pull one tool out three others come with it as it was screwed together to tight. easy to fix by loosening it a little though.

      fell apart first use.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used it once and it fell apart on me.

Always there when you need it

I really dig my iBeam, it's the perfect size and light weight. Has just about every tool you might need trail side you get you back going again. The Chain breaker and spoke wrench are tools you don't thing you need, right up until they save your ride. Solid price of gear.

Always there when you need it

        Clever Design

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've owned previous Park Tool multi-tools in the past, but was sold on this after using my Dad's when I broke my chain on an afternoon ride. I love that it includes a chain tool, along with nearly every other hex wrench I've needed - all while being as compact as my previous tool. Though, it seems like most of the hex wrenches could be longer than they currently are.

        It does the job

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Durable as expected with the hardened steel, but a little bit heavy. Does fit very nicely in the small backpack pockets. It did come super tight though and I had to loosen the hinges so I could actual get the tools to rotate out. That being said it does have everything you could need in a multi tool

        tooooooool!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I promptly lost the 8mm that fits on the 6mm :( I perfer that crank brother multi tool 19
        http://www.backcountry.com/crank-brothers-multi-19-tool?rr=t

the chain breaker is a little better on this tool though. and it's nice that it includes a tire lever

        Useless!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this about a year ago, put it in my saddle bag and promptly forgot about it until yesterday when I needed it to fix a loose saddle. To my dismay, I discovered that it was thoroughly rusted and the hex wrench I needed - the 6 mm - was unavailable because the 8 mm cap had rusted onto it! What is the point of a BICYCLE multi-tool that can't tolerate the environment of a BICYCLE saddle bag???

        Useless!

        Compact

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Personally I generally prefer to carry more full sized tools with me since I have plenty of space in my pack. However, if you are looking for a super compact multi-tool that has everything you need out on the trail this is a great option. If you're hoping to keep your baggage light, you are in the right place. In my opinion you definitely sacrifice a lot of usability getting so many tools in such a small package... but the idea is that you will rarely use this and just keep it in your saddle bag, jersey, hat, shoe, etc. in case of emergency repairs so usability is not really a big issue. The price is surprisingly reasonable as well consider the Park Tool name, so I'm happy with my purchase overall. The tire lever is thin and not the most confidence inspiring so I personally carry another additional lever, but the incorporated spoke wrench is quite clever.

Yes the chain tool is for breaking the chain while replacing or just removing links.

It will break any standard mountain bike chain including your 21 speed.

        Great tool.

I've carried this for a year in my jersey pocket on rides, and it's been great. I have not had to use the chain tool yet, but I've used several of the allen keys, and they've worked perfectly. Seems like high grade metal is used--I have not rounded off any of them. Not too flexy (I was worried about it being too flexy, since it only has one center support rail that ties the two ends together, but it's done just fine.) I've liked that it has a plastic tire lever that slides onto it on one side--the lever has been very useful to have a couple of times. I also wanted one that would work on a 10-speed chain (since some of my bikes has 10-speed chain and some are 9.)
