no frills, just a solid tool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you do any work on your bike, you will need this tool. As others have said, it's not something you'll use often, but it really pays to have this and a chainwhip on hand. It's a burly piece that I expect to own for many years.

A necessary addition to my toolbox.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Used in conjunction with the chain whip and wrench, allows easy removal of the cassette from my road and mountain bikes, both QR and thru-axle configurations. I bought a couple of them in case I misplace one.

Every amateur mechanic needs one

Vital piece to the tool box needed for removing cassettes. Park tool is top notch, vital for any amateur mechanic.

    great to use

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

does what it's supposed to do. Great to have in the kit. I don't use it often, but I have it if I need it.

    Simple and easy.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I would argue it's worth spending a couple extra dollars to get the version of this tool that has the pin. I bought it to install a single speed spacer kit and a chris king cog on my stans flow wheels and it worked like a charm. highly recommended.

    Great for the job

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I didn't give it 5 stars because it just works, it doesn't do a complex task. It is worth noting that it fits on the XD driver body which is deeper, so that is nice for removing those, and any other shimano/sram cassette you have.

    Does its job

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Pretty handy tool to have in the tool box. Works well and fits my SRAM 11 speed cassette perfectly.

    not for 15mm centerlocks.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this to switch out my rotors to the new freeza centerlocks and didn't realize until I went to install that you need a BB tool for centerlock rotors on a 15mm axle. other than that it worked great for the rear rotor and cassette.

    Works as Described

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you have a Shimano or Sram cassette you need this tool.

    Gotta have it.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you are going to change your Shimano or Sram cassette, you've got to have one of these. As usual, Park makes a very functional tool. I prefer the one with the centering pin(FR-5G)-just makes the job a little easier for 2 bucks more.

Another essential for the tool box.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Yep, you are going to need one of these too.

Have you ever heard the term..' Up shit creek without a paddle? ' This is your paddle.

    crucial tool

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You never know when you'll need to swap a cassette, and when you aren't going light enough to warrant the stein hypercracker, this is a good second. Make sure your chain whip is on sturdy and you'll be set.

    Does the job

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This tool is precisely made, fits in to my park socket set to have a socket cassette tool, and has removed many a cassette.

    Good Tool

Works great. need to use in conjunction with chain whip. model number FR-5G has the pin, FR-5 comes without. pin helps stabilize tool, both fit xx1.
