How to Measure:
For best results, have someone take the measurement for you.
Torso:
Start at the iliac crest (the top of your hipbone that you can feel like a shelf on the side of your body). From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down. Make sure to keep your back straight while having the measurement taken.
Hip:
Measure around your hips, at your iliac crest, not your waist.

Worth the price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used it for hiking and biking, and it's handled very well. Very light, but can handle all of your gear.

Awesome pack

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack is great for long or short rides. The hip belt pockets can hold an iPhone, keys, snacks, etc., the tool roll holds all the bailout gear you might need, and still has plenty of room for layers, raingear, protection, you name it. Even if you aren't hauling all that stuff it cinches tight and rides stable.

good pack but old bladder was better

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like this pack but wish Osprey kept the old Nalgene bladder design.

Christopher, I am sorry you miss the old reservoir! There were issues with that one and have gotten the feedback that the new HydraPack design is way better. It also carries the Osprey All Mighty Guaranty, which the Nalgene one did not.

Thank you for the review!

Best pack out there

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

this bag is fantastic. I use it for road and MTB hiking, yard work and anything else where I need to keep my hydration needs on point. The mesh on the back keeps things cooler than your average bag. Stays in place very well during rides. Plenty of storage for snacks and whatever tools you want to carry. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a new hydration pack!

My fav pack!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack is incredible! The material is waterproof as far as i can tell it kept my phone nice and dry during a surprise downpour. The size is nice and the weight is great. I use this pack for biking and day hikes, because of its size. shows no wear after several crashes and days of use!

Thanks for the great review, John!

Downhiller? This is your pack!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Super stable on your back, the Osprey Zealot carries what I need when downhilling on my mountain bike. Full face mask, armor, tools and all of the basics are covered in this burly pack. If you are a downhiller, enduro racer, or just want a loaded biking pack, check out the Zealot!

The Best

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this bag. I have been running it for about 9 months now. I teach a Mountain Biking class, and guide groups all the time. I needed a bag that could fit all the tools and parts I would need to make any trail fix, a first aid kit, and food and layers, and this is it. The whole back zips down so you can pack it and the tool pouch in the bottom is awesome. I also use this for normal riding, and put my full face and pads on it, as well as my normal helmet. I use this for 100% of my biking. I have crashed and slid down rocky chutes on it, logged hundreds of miles in Moab, and it still looks new. Stop looking, you have found the bag. Buy it.

Awesome MTB Pack!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack was made for mountain biking, and it rocks! It fits great and never feels uncomfortable, even on flow trails packed with jumps. It is also packed with some awesome features like a roll out tool kit (See photo), reservoir sleeve, helmet carry, and a strap system that easily carries larger knee pads and full face helmets. The materials are super durable, and even after multiple wrecks (one that threw me on to my back) there are no signs of wear and tear. This thing is seriously beefy and I will be shocked if I manage to rip a hole in it. It also has great little pockets on hip and shoulder straps that are perfect for energy goo or shot blocks.

If you are looking for a mid-sized mountain biking pack, then this is the pack for you.
