How to Measure:
For best results, have someone take the measurement for you.
Torso:
Start at the iliac crest (the top of your hipbone that you can feel like a shelf on the side of your body). From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down. Make sure to keep your back straight while having the measurement taken.
Hip:
Measure around your hips, at your iliac crest, not your waist.

The perfect bike pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this pack as my mountain biking pack. Perfect size to fit a bladder and water for full day rides with a few tools and snacks as well!

Great pack for Mountain Biking

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pack is a perfect size to carry everything I need for a day on the trails. The tool roll out is a great addition as well. The pack will also work great for hiking 14'ers.

Thank you for the great review!

best hydration pack for biking

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Perfect size to fit a lot of water and a few tools and snacks without being bulky at all. The magnetic feature to keep the drinking hose in place and not banging all over the place. It fits a 3L bladder which more than enough for most rides. The detachable tool pack is also a really nice feature. Get this pack if you want to ride those long days!

Hey JT - Thank you so much for the stellar review. Enjoy that Raptor!

Don't leave home (camp) without it

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I bought the Osprey 10L I had some apprehension about its size. After almost 5 years using the pack I couldn't be happier. It will fit an astonishing amount when you set out for those 20+ mile rides and I NEVER leave without it when going on a day hike, regardless the length. Concerts, running errands around town, skiing, and distance running, this pack does, and holds it all. I only recently had to send it in to (finally) get repaired. Thanks Osprey!

Hey Logan - this pack has great versatility! Thank you for calling it out!

Awesome

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack has room for all the essentials, and then some. The helmet clip is incredibly convenient, and the water supply is seemingly endless. Couple that with a breathable back panel and super comfortable straps and you've got the total package. I've never ridden with it more than 30 miles at once so I don't think it was too heavy.

Thank you for the great review, Dan!

Heavy on long bike rides

There are a lot of high quality features about this pack. You can tell a lot of thought went in to what pouches go where, and the overall design of the bag. For example, a bike tool pouch that you can remove off the bag and have all your tools ready to be used. I’m not going to give it a perfect review though because on long technical bike rides (I just took it on a 50 miles technical ride) it’ll bust your back in half. There probably isn’t really a solution to a sore back on a long ride, but people who wore the osprey fanny packs seemed to do a lot better with back pain.

Hey Braden - good review. Such a hard call between features and weight. A lighter option for the super long rides would be the Viper 9. Thank you for writing!

    Don't Go Without It

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have always been the type to just carry a larger water bottle on my bike but as I started to extend my rides past 15 miles I found that I couldn't pull it off anymore. I was frustrated because I had always heard that packs were the worst but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It has a flat back piece that keeps the bladder evenly distributed and also protects your spine in the event of a crash. I also love that it's the perfect size for tools, water and a snack and nothing more. Helmet clip rounds it all of and makes you look like a pro.

    Great fit + access

The Osprey Raptor 10 is a great option for folks looking for a flexible hydration pack for hiking or mountain biking. The magnet on the nipple provides great access while mountain biking, and the bag stays stable while riding. I really like the pockets, which are easy to access and store everything you need. The helmet clip is a nice addition to keep everything together.

Should've Went with a Darker Color

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Though billed as a cycling-specific pack, I have found myself using the Raptor in just about every situation that calls for hydration on the move. Hiking, climbing, mountain biking and bike commuting - limitless applications!

My only regret is the color choice. When I purchased my pack it was offered in a hi-vis yellow - it is no longer that color, but I guess that means it's been well loved right? Heavy duty pull tabs have stood up to constant abuse, side stretch panels remain stretchy and this user remains happy. In the event that I manage to totally shred my bag, I can take comfort knowing I'm covered by Osprey's amazing Almighty Guarantee.

At 6'00", this pack fits me just fine.

      surprisingly versatile

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm honestly surprised how much I use Osprey's Raptor Backpack. I figured I'd use it to hike in the summertime, but it's ended up going to concerts and festivals ever since I got it. Thanks for including a reservoir; it would feel kind of pointless to get one of these without one.

Derek, it's so funny how many places I see Raptor packs, other than the bike trail. Super versatile! Thank you for a great review.

      Drink Water

I got this for my man to replace an old Camelbak that was literally starting to fall apart. And oh boy, is this an upgrade!
He primarily uses it for biking, so the tool pouch is an awesome feature to keep everything organized. Other than the standard tube, CO2 kit, and multi-tool, he can easily carry an additional layer and some snacks, plus a full bladder. The magnetic feature on the hydration hose is a great addition, especially when you're moving a lot. The back panel is super comfortable and allows for pretty good air movement, and the hip belt is comfortable to use to keep it in place too.
All in all, if you're in the market for a smaller hydration pack, no need to look further! This one is a gem.

Thank you, Kayla! Now you need to get the women's version, the Raven!

        Enjoy!

        Hydrate or die!

You need to carry water. This is a cool way to do that. Fits great, easy to fill, nice zippered pockets on the waist strap. I especially like how the tube zips into the shoulder strap so I don't have to fish it through some hole etc. Plenty h2o capacity and room to carry other essentials. Highly recommend.

Hey Zak! Thank you for the great review and sorry for the delay!

          Makes a great bike pack

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear this a lot. Mostly biking and its perfect. It has a ton of storage and the bladder fits in there perfect and doesnt move around. It is a very comfy fit around the body too. Just buy it.

Hey Jack - Thank you for the vote of confidence on the Raptor! Happy Trails!

          Perfect Bike Pack

The Osprey Raptor 10 is the perfect mountain biking hydration pack - even comes with a removable tool kit pouch that holds all the essentials while you are on the trail. It is a great size so you can bring along a snack and extra layer if on a long ride, but doesn't weigh you down at all. I've owned Camelbacks, Dakine packs, and Gregory packs and Osprey always knocks it out of the park!

Hey Larissa, Thank you for a great review - Apologies for my delayed reply!

Great pack with easy to open pockets

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The best thing about this pack (other than it fits great and doesn't flop around) is that the waistbelt zippers are easy to open one handed. I can unzip, pull out a bar, and rezip easily without futzing around with the zippers!!! (I wish other cycing clothing manufacturers could pull this off - Listen up Castelli and Gore).

I am a roadie, and while I don't use this every week, I do use this pack for gravel riding in the winter (when I need to carry some extra bits just in case) or for day tours. (I've had it for a few years now, and I have used it many many times, but certainly not every week.)

Solid pack. I got the 10 liter so I wouldn't be too tempted to bring more than I needed, and the 10 is perfect!!!

Thanks for the review Tyler! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

            Thank you, Tyler!

            Osprey quality

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've been a big fan of Osprey and the the quality product they put out. This hydration pack is no different! The build quality is impeccable and the fit feels like it was made just for you. There are plenty of pockets to stash a lightweight jacket, tools & repair kits, food and whatever else you desire for your journey. Don't hesitate to buy this pack, you won't be disappointed!

            Not a Wack Pack

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

( ordered this for my brother as a present -- here's what he has to say about it!) I just got this little pack for mountain biking primarily. I've only had it on one ride so far, but I can already tell how useful it is going to be. I did a thorough inspection of the pack, and was blown away at all the little features and thought that went into the design. Some of my favorites are the roll up bike tool pouch with its corresponding bottom compartment, and the magnet on the bladder hose that keeps the mouth piece upright to prevent dripping. That little magnet is a genius idea. It makes for an easily accessible drink when you're on the trail without having to reach very far, or take your eyes off of the path in front of you. It fits like a glove (which is why I bought a bike specific pack... riding around with a pack that moves independently of you on a bike is supremely annoying), and is super comfy. Osprey definitely did their fair share of R/D with this little pack. I highly recommend it!

Thank you for passing this on, Andrew! Apologies for a belated reply on my end!

Every time Osprey. Every single time I purchase one of your products I love them. The fit is fantastic and comfortable. Plenty of room and secret hidden pockets. The new bladders are much easier to fill now versus the old screw cap style. I will continue to buy Osprey because they make superior products.

Hey Scott - a belated thank you for a great post! Enjoy your Raptor!

            Osprey hydration pack

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is a great upgrade from my camelback mule. Not that the mule was a bad bag just doesn't have all of the features this bag has. The small details are what makes this a great bag such as the tool pouch section, security clips on the zippers and a magnet on the spout. This bag also has two pouches on the waist strap that let you get to snacks and a camera without taking off the pack. The only downside that I had with this bag is that when you bend over or set the bag down the mouth piece does not take very much pressure to allow the water to come out. After finding this out I just made a point to lock it when I set it down and problem solved.

Thank you, Alexander, for the review! And also for the tip to keep your mouthpiece locked when not in use; a good habit to get in to!
