How to Measure:
For best results, have someone take the measurement for you.
Torso:
Start at the iliac crest (the top of your hipbone that you can feel like a shelf on the side of your body). From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down. Make sure to keep your back straight while having the measurement taken.
Hip:
Measure around your hips, at your iliac crest, not your waist.

surprisingly versatile

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm honestly surprised how much I use Osprey's Raptor Backpack. I figured I'd use it to hike in the summertime, but it's ended up going to concerts and festivals ever since I got it. Thanks for including a reservoir; it would feel kind of pointless to get one of these without one.

Derek, it's so funny how many places I see Raptor packs, other than the bike trail. Super versatile! Thank you for a great review.

Drink Water

I got this for my man to replace an old Camelbak that was literally starting to fall apart. And oh boy, is this an upgrade!
He primarily uses it for biking, so the tool pouch is an awesome feature to keep everything organized. Other than the standard tube, CO2 kit, and multi-tool, he can easily carry an additional layer and some snacks, plus a full bladder. The magnetic feature on the hydration hose is a great addition, especially when you're moving a lot. The back panel is super comfortable and allows for pretty good air movement, and the hip belt is comfortable to use to keep it in place too.
All in all, if you're in the market for a smaller hydration pack, no need to look further! This one is a gem.

Thank you, Kayla! Now you need to get the women's version, the Raven!

    Enjoy!

    Hydrate or die!

You need to carry water. This is a cool way to do that. Fits great, easy to fill, nice zippered pockets on the waist strap. I especially like how the tube zips into the shoulder strap so I don't have to fish it through some hole etc. Plenty h2o capacity and room to carry other essentials. Highly recommend.

Hey Zak! Thank you for the great review and sorry for the delay!

      Makes a great bike pack

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear this a lot. Mostly biking and its perfect. It has a ton of storage and the bladder fits in there perfect and doesnt move around. It is a very comfy fit around the body too. Just buy it.

Hey Jack - Thank you for the vote of confidence on the Raptor! Happy Trails!

      Perfect Bike Pack

The Osprey Raptor 10 is the perfect mountain biking hydration pack - even comes with a removable tool kit pouch that holds all the essentials while you are on the trail. It is a great size so you can bring along a snack and extra layer if on a long ride, but doesn't weigh you down at all. I've owned Camelbacks, Dakine packs, and Gregory packs and Osprey always knocks it out of the park!

Hey Larissa, Thank you for a great review - Apologies for my delayed reply!

Great pack with easy to open pockets

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The best thing about this pack (other than it fits great and doesn't flop around) is that the waistbelt zippers are easy to open one handed. I can unzip, pull out a bar, and rezip easily without futzing around with the zippers!!! (I wish other cycing clothing manufacturers could pull this off - Listen up Castelli and Gore).

I am a roadie, and while I don't use this every week, I do use this pack for gravel riding in the winter (when I need to carry some extra bits just in case) or for day tours. (I've had it for a few years now, and I have used it many many times, but certainly not every week.)

Solid pack. I got the 10 liter so I wouldn't be too tempted to bring more than I needed, and the 10 is perfect!!!

Thanks for the review Tyler! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

        Thank you, Tyler!

        Osprey quality

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've been a big fan of Osprey and the the quality product they put out. This hydration pack is no different! The build quality is impeccable and the fit feels like it was made just for you. There are plenty of pockets to stash a lightweight jacket, tools & repair kits, food and whatever else you desire for your journey. Don't hesitate to buy this pack, you won't be disappointed!

Great review, Scott - many thanks! Sorry for the belated reply!

        Not a Wack Pack

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

( ordered this for my brother as a present -- here's what he has to say about it!) I just got this little pack for mountain biking primarily. I've only had it on one ride so far, but I can already tell how useful it is going to be. I did a thorough inspection of the pack, and was blown away at all the little features and thought that went into the design. Some of my favorites are the roll up bike tool pouch with its corresponding bottom compartment, and the magnet on the bladder hose that keeps the mouth piece upright to prevent dripping. That little magnet is a genius idea. It makes for an easily accessible drink when you're on the trail without having to reach very far, or take your eyes off of the path in front of you. It fits like a glove (which is why I bought a bike specific pack... riding around with a pack that moves independently of you on a bike is supremely annoying), and is super comfy. Osprey definitely did their fair share of R/D with this little pack. I highly recommend it!

Thank you for passing this on, Andrew! Apologies for a belated reply on my end!

        EVERY TIME

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Every time Osprey. Every single time I purchase one of your products I love them. The fit is fantastic and comfortable. Plenty of room and secret hidden pockets. The new bladders are much easier to fill now versus the old screw cap style. I will continue to buy Osprey because they make superior products.

Hey Scott - a belated thank you for a great post! Enjoy your Raptor!

        Osprey hydration pack

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is a great upgrade from my camelback mule. Not that the mule was a bad bag just doesn't have all of the features this bag has. The small details are what makes this a great bag such as the tool pouch section, security clips on the zippers and a magnet on the spout. This bag also has two pouches on the waist strap that let you get to snacks and a camera without taking off the pack. The only downside that I had with this bag is that when you bend over or set the bag down the mouth piece does not take very much pressure to allow the water to come out. After finding this out I just made a point to lock it when I set it down and problem solved.

Thank you, Alexander, for the review! And also for the tip to keep your mouthpiece locked when not in use; a good habit to get in to!

        little tight

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

just a little tight to be one size fits all. I'm a broad shouldered man. Its the top strap that will come unclipped at the magnet if i would open my arms wide. not a bike riding move unless I'm puling no handed airs.;) Great so far. Lots of pockets with functional uses

Thank you for the feedback! Enjoy your rides!

        Can't get much better!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This Hydration pack is straight up perfect! I mainly use it for day hikes as well as mountain biking. I Love the 3L bladder it comes with! Lots of pockets and room for only a 10L pack. I have used mine countless times and It is still looks almost new no wear and tear showing yet. I highly recommend the Raptor!

        Thank you Ryan!

        I am so impressed

I love this pack! It is the perfect pack for mountain biking. I have also used it for hiking, rafting, and snowboarding. It's a great size for the essentials. The adjustable straps allow it to fit well on me and my wife. It is comfortable on both of us. It still looks like the day I got it, and I've used it on a lot of adventures. I definitely recommend this pack.

Thank you Benjamin - so glad you love the Raven! The Raptor (men's equivalent) is really solid as well, and other than a different color pallet, it offers a longer torso size for guys.

          Thanks!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I gave this to my son as a gift, and he loves it! fits great, with lots of cool pockets. His favorite is the tool pull out section.

This is such a great pack from Osprey - cool reservoir, great organization and a tool pouch! Say no more! Fantastic in the women's model "Raven" as well!

Osprey 10 best hydration pack I've used

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pack is really light weight empty. Best yet, fully loaded I hardly notice it - wide straps and body fit are perfect. Back pocket holds in snacks or whatever while being able to reach in without detaching clip or messing with a zipper. I use the convenient pouches on front side of waist straps for quick access to snack and rag. One improvement could be in the hydration pack itself. The pouch is hard to dry. The material should be more flexible to turn inside out. I use plastic-coated salad tongs in expanded mode to let in air overnight.

          Perfect!

This is the perfect pack for long mountain bike rides! It carries everything you need without being heavy or bulky. It comes with a 3L bladder so you can carry plenty of water. The air ventilation on the back keeps you cool on hot days. Osprey truly makes the best packs!

            Love this pack

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great pack. I use it for mountain biking. It holds enough water for a few hours on the bike, room for stuff to fix a flat, some granola bars and chap-stick. It fits great, doesn't rub and cause problems. Highly recommend it!

            great pack

fits well on back and not too much pressure on shoulders. Took out bladder as it was overkill and really heavy. would love this pack in a bit lighter material but this was lightest and best on the market. High reviews and would recommend. lots of room that I don't even use so could probably get smaller pack for easy couple hour ride
