Great Tube!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was super pumped to get this! I only used it a few times before my boyfriend ripped it out of the insulation and then couldn't get it back in. 4 star tube, 3 star boyfriend.

Great review!! HA! He owes you!

Doesn't fit newer bladderd

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This hose only fit the older bladders with the blue hard backing, and there is no quick connect. It doesn't fit the newer all clear bladders.

Grace, I am sorry for the delay - just seeing this now. Which reservoir does this not fit? I am confused...

Thank you,

Promising...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't used this yet, but have initial impressions:
Installing the hose on my existing bladder is surprisingly easy. The insulation is substantial and I'm optimistic that it'll work as intended. Once I was confident that I was keeping this thing I cut off the elastic strap and buckle because it was so flimsy that I figured dealing with another sternum strap would just be a bother. I think I'll just tuck it underneath the existing strap on my pack. The tube's length actually makes this a fine system since I can access the hose end without having to undo my sternum strap. Because the mouth piece is so large, you may find that running it into your pack, as opposed to external hydration sleeves, requires you install the hose through the pack, making you bladder semipermanent in your pack. I had to, but don't mind since the install/deinstall is easy and the pack I'm using for mountaineering/backcountry skiing is only used for this. For $24 it's a fine purchase.

Update: I found that an all day ski tour at temperatures between roughly 10 and 30 degrees that the hose insulated fine. I drank regularly throughout the day and the water was certainly cold when I did. This makes me wonder if more time in between drinks would have allowed the water to freeze, but not on me! Definitely glad I got this!

Freezing temps? No problem

What a relief it will be not to worry about the water in my hydration tube freezing when I'm enjoying a winter walk in the woods, snow shoeing or cross country skiing. Great idea and design!
