Osprey equipped the Hydraulics LT with a convenient Slide-Seal closure for easy-filling at the kitchen sink or spring, and the magnetic bite valve ensures you don't loose any water until you're good and ready to wet your whistle.

1 1/2 Liter Hydration sack

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So let me start by saying the one half liter doesn't have that plastic taste that my 2 1/2 later has had. I had to work really hard to get the plastic taste out of the 2 1/2 liter Hydration system, that being said I love the hydration pack., So I never really finished 2 1/2 Liters of water on my hikes because I actually cared another water bottle. What I really like about this hydration Bladder is that I save weight the new smaller lighter blader. I took 3 pounds out of my pack with this new bladder

Thank you for the great review! Enjoy that reservoir!

Thank you,

Great choice!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

One of my favorite things is the hose quick disconnect and it's location. They put it at the top so I don't have to fish around in my bag to find it. Easy to fill and seal...I always fumbled with the camelback round opening and find them hard to open and close. This is a breeze compared. The magnet is what set this aside from other options too, it is nice to have your nozzle in a reliable location . Water tasted plastic on the first ride which is to be expected, but that taste has decreased with every fill up.

Thanks for the review, Bec!

So Far, So Good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked up the Osprey Talon pack, which I absolutely love, but it needed a hydration bladder. This was the perfect choice. Compared to my old Camelbak, this is MUCH easier to fill, and to clean. I like the slide-seal closure, as it's super easy to manage and it's very secure. I also really like the magnetic bit valve feature- this does come with both the magnet on the bite valve itself, as well the piece that fits on to your sternum strap. So far, the magnet has worked well through both mountain biking and hiking. The bite valve too is easy to use, and I appreciate how easy it is to lock.
So far, this bladder has worked very well- no complaints!

Thank you Kayla!

Enjoy!

Good but one small detail..

The reservoir is fine but one small change this year is the gray plastic sliding piece no longer has a slit so you can hook it on inside your pack. You must unbuckle the small strap inside the pack and loop it on. It’s already awkward to get the bladder inside the pack. Without the easy hanger it’s even more awkward.

plastic secure clip not strong enough

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love this product overall. Much better fill apparatus compared to camelbak. Also much better mouth valve.
My only beef is the plastic clip used to secure the bag to the pack. Mine broke the second time it was used. Very flimsy. Needs to be a sturdier construction to hold 2.5 L upright!
I have heard of at least three other folks who experienced the same issue.

    Timothy,

Thank you for the feedback. If Osprey isn't aware already, I'll make sure they see your review. I have heard of it, although not often at all. Still, I would guess that is something they can change fairly easily.

    Thank you,

    Water is life!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Before this purchase I had a Platypus bladder and a cheap Walmart bladder bought on a whim. This bladder is ten times BETTER than those.

It is easy to fill. You do not have to struggle to screw a lid on or off. You simply zip it off. You can fill it completely 2.5 liters and still shut it. There is a little extra space past 2.5 liters which makes it easier to shut. When you fill it the bladder it stays pretty flat and narrow to fit perfectly in the sleeve of the backpack unlike some that fill up and become round. (Don't forget to put your bladder in first, before your other gear!) :)

Super lightweight!!! When it is empty it does not stay up on its own. Some people do not like this but that does not bother me. The lower the water level the more it slides/bunches up in the sleeve of my pack. (Not noticeable unless you open the pack)

Lastly, the bite valve is amazing. You can twist the grey part to turn it on or off. Sometimes while hiking I leave it open because I know I will constantly be drinking water. When traveling and throwing gear in the car I keep it closed so it does not get squeezed and leak everywhere.

    FAVORITE BLADDER SO FAR!!!!!

    Awesome review, Aleshia! Thank you!

    Easily Consume Water

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really like this hydration systems. I’ve mostly had cheap systems before and this is the first one where I threw some money down for.

The one huge difference between this bag and a cheap bag is the ease of which one can consume water. With cheaper bags, I have to suck harder to try and get a good amount of water to come out. I’m dehydrated and want to chug water, but it feels restricted when trying to drink. Remember, thats the cheap bags I’m talking about.

As for this one, it has a much better flow of water. for example if we were just to put random numbers down and say a cheap bag flows water out of the end at 1 gallon per minute, then the Osprey bag would have an output of 5 gallons per minute.

When I go to drink water, being able to easily drink it rather than trying to force the water out of the hose is big for me.

The only other difference with the Osprey is the easy closing system and handle. I prefer it over the screw tight bags.

I’d recommend you buy this bag.

Oh, i like the magnet as well.

Storm, thank you for the great review on the reservoir from Osprey! Enjoy!

    Decent bladder but needs improvements

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this bladder as a replacement for a 3 year old bladder that started leaking. The construction of this one has a unique system. The top of the bladder fold over and then a grey slider slips over the top - similar to a zip lock bag. Although I haven't experienced any problems, this system seems like it could wear out rather quickly. The handle that is provided is extremely convenient and has come in handy multiple times. The biggest problem with this bladder is that the water - regardless of the source - tastes like plastic. I have been unable to get rid of this taste. It's a decent product but probably won't be recommending to anyone.

Hi Chanae, I am sorry about that - I haven't heard that comment yet, but I will pass it on. Many thanks!

      LOVE

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had many other hydration sleeves, and they've all had some issue - the nozzle leaked, sealing it was hard, filling was hard, or something along those lines.

This one is perfect! Lightweight, and I love the magnetic bite valve! It comes with a magnet to put on your chest strap, so it will stay in place. I use this with my Osprey Tempest and it's perfect!

Thank you Melissa! Sorry for the late reply!

      Perfect for trail use!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I use this with my Nathan VapurKrar vest and it works great! The detachable hose makes it really easy to get in and out of the vest. The size is perfect and is a lot easier to clean than other bladders.

      Perfect for trail use!

      Great lightweight reservoir

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have the old 1.5L LT reservoir, and this one is a lot better. Much lighter weight, I actually really like the fold top opening, and it seems to be very well constructed (like everything Osprey makes). Great product at a great price, I can't wait to get out and use it this summer!

Thank you Jake! Sorry for the late reply!

      Better than Camelbak-

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

In the past I've always used and trusted Camelbak reservoirs and they are great.

I thought I would try out the Osprey Reservoir due to the fact that I have the Osprey Tempest pack and thought they might be more compatible. I went with the 2.5 L in case I'm going long distances without access to water, as 2.5 L can sustain me for about 14 miles.

I used the for the first time hiking the North Rim to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It fit perfectly in the slot for the pouch on my 65L Osprey VIVA. I would suggest to leave a little room in your pack to help you load it without feeling like it's going to burst. It is very lightweight, and you can physically feel that it is lighter than it's Camelbak alternative.

I love that it has a press and fold seal. it's super leak proof and easy to fill.

The only recommendation I have on this reservoir is to fill it not quite to the fill line. When you close it if it's too full, it will spill and be wet before you seal it closed.

Sarah - thank you for the great review! Enjoy!

      Fantastic Upgrade!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have owned the old style of Osprey bladders and this is an excellent upgrade from the old system. The new closing mechanism is great because it can't be put on crooked and also doesn't stick when it's dirty. The old screw style closure held up for a year or so and then got really hard to open and close correctly which lead to some major leakage. The mouth piece has also be resigned and cannot be accidentally opened if it snags on something. The internal baffles also help keep the shape on the bladder and I have yet to have any flow issues because it doesn't collapse on itself. Overall this new bladder is a great upgrade and I highly recommend it!

      Trey,

Thank you for the review - I really appreciate the upgrade in design. Really great updates!
