Warm shoe with a design flaw (for me)

Familiarity:: I've used it several times

The good: The lower of this shoe is warm, stiff, grippy to walk in and hugs my foot when tightened with the boa-like closure. The deal breaker for me: the neoprene ankle cuff is stretchy but wide and has no way to cinch it closed, I have skinny ankles so there was more than a half inch of space between the cuff and my leg which was perfect for allowing water to run down and wet my socks and eventually inside the shoe as well. I really don?t understand this design, what is the point of a waterproof shoe with a big opening in the top? I have an old pair of Northwave Celsius shoes that were amazing, lasted me 6 years of frequent use but these are being returned.
