Extreme GT Cycling Shoe

Add a touch of Italian flair to your feet with the Men's Extreme GT Cycling Shoe from Northwave. Designed to be both lightweight and stiff, they'll help you spin up the steepest climbs and ensure no efforts are wasted in those 4-digit wattage sprints. Add to that clean looks and a refined fit and you end up with some shoes that'll put a smile on your face every time you cinch them up before a ride.

The upper is constructed using a patented Xframe technique and uses ultralight materials that are a super thin 0.5 mm thick. This provides a snug and evenly distributed fit without pressure points or hot spots. A single SLW2 dial cinches down the upper with step-by-step adjustments for a near-custom fit and easy adjustment on the bike with a full release from a single button. Inside the shoe, an integrated heel system with a cat's tongue like material keeps slipping at bay and anchors the heel. The Performance Regular footbed works in conjunction with the intake and exhaust ports in the shoe's sole to keep your feet cool and dry during the hottest rides and it sits just above the Anatomical Arch Support that caters to a variety of arch heights.

Speaking of soles, these Extreme GT shoes get the Morph Carbon 12 AAS sole featuring a full-carbon insert in the pedal area with a stiffness index of 12.0 out of 15 on the Northwave scale. The shoe's come stock working with any 3-bolt road cleat and the NW Speedplay insert, sold separately, eliminates the need for the standard adapter for a super low stack height between your foot and the pedal spindle.

  • A road shoe offering comfortable support and efficiency
  • Xframe upper construction wraps feet in thin materials
  • A single SLW2 dial provide a secure, micro-adjustable fit
  • Integrated heel retention system prevents slipping
  • Morph Carbon 12 AAS sole maximizes power transfer
  • NW Speedplay adapter compatibility (not included)

Possible the worst/ most uncomfortable

I've put it through the wringer
Runs large
Size Bought
5` 10"
180 lbs

I purchased the bio map northwave shoes about 3-4 years ago and really broke it in. I purchased it based on all the good reviews especially for a flat foot athletes. When I first started wearing them it was extremely uncomfortable but I thought it was normal as I have to break it in. However as time went on and putting over a thousand miles on them it remained just as uncomfortable as when I first got it. After taking a 1 year break from cycling I just got back and quickly realized that these shoes are still just as uncomfortable as I had left it. It not only has a bad fitting which puts a lot of pressure on the pinky toe side of the foot it also loosens fairly quick compared to the other brands like boa. The design is horrible as well, make you look like you have a hobbit feet with how big the point of the shoe is. I would definitely not recommend anyone to buy this. Don’t know if it’s the model I specifically got.

Nice shoe, great value

True to size

Shoes are a personal thing, one size does not fit everyone! My foot is too wide for typical Italian shoes (think Sidi) but not wide enough for the wide versions. The Northwave fits me perfectly, not too narrow and not too wide. The closure works great but differently from most wire dials. Twist the dial to close it, but pull up the small silver lever to release. Press down on the lever and it tightens one click at a time, easy to do when riding. Once I figured it out, it became second nature. Overall this shoe is a very nice shoe and great value.

Are these adaptable to an SPD cleat?

Is the Speedplay adapter sold by cc?

Hi Luis, We do not sell the Northwave adapter. The 3 hole adapter comes with the speedplay cleats.
