Description

Don’t fret the muck.

Nothing impresses your friends more than expert handling skills in the thick mud. The Norrona Fjora Dri3 Shorts help you get all the practice you need and stay squeaky clean (well, mostly clean). Smoothly taped seams and a Dri3 weatherproof outer layer keep your legs dry, and side venting helps keep air moving when you need it. For times when you want to go full send mode, the shorts have a helpful amount of stretch to nail those tricky, outstretched body positions.

Waterproof almost-knickers

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are long shorts that drop right below the knee, just not quite as long as knickers - and they are really waterproof - *not* just water resistant. They are great for wet rainy days on the trail. I do need a light layer underneath, some tights or knicker length leggings. I have 31" waist and got the small and it was a perfect fit.

Roomy, durable, waterproof, breathable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: large

I have to admit to some skepticism about how these would fit, bike clothes are generally loose in the waist and tight everywhere else. I opted for large, based on specs and reviews. I think I could have gotten away with medium, but they would have fit more tightly than I like.
The size large falls just below my knee, and gives me ample room in the thighs and booty areas. The waist is adjusted with Velcro tabs and is considerably higher in the back than the front. Speaking of the front, it's held shut with two snaps and a zippered fly.
The fabric is waterproof and as breathable as one would expect; the two-way side zips add serious ventilation.
There is a thigh pocket on the left leg with a cell phone pocket inside. It holds an iPhone 6s with an Apple auxiliary battery case firmly against the inside of the pocket, but it also allows sweat to accumulate on the phone.
On the front part of the hips are two pockets, held closed with hidden zippers. The pockets are good for small things, like a small wallet (I have a small, folded Tyvek wallet) or keys, maybe a multi tool or Epic bar (the salmon ones!). I'd like to see the pockets moved to a more traditional hip pocket location, but these aren't bad.
There is no back pockets. To me it's an irritation, but not the end of the world. On longer rides, I can stash keys and wallet elsewhere.
So far I wore these more for wet weather photo assignments (yes, the electric blue. I'm not cool enough to dress in all black) than bike riding; and, that bike riding was a fixed gear bike in Austin. Both were during the South by Southwest festival.
I plan to take some longer adventures in Oregon and northern California where the fit and features of these stellar shorts will be perfect.

Unanswered Question

What is the inseam of these? They look long like knickers length but hard to tell for sure from the photos.
