Why We Like The RLT 9 RDO 650b 4-Star GRX 1x Gravel Bike
Niner, based out of Fork Collins, Colorado, knows what mountain biking and adventuring-touring is all about because the brand itself is made up of a team of bikers. Making off-road bikes is what Niner excels at, and that's why the brand is committed to designing newer and better rides. Like us, Niner loves dirt. We love the bumpy trails and gravel paths that come with adventure riding, and that's why we're turning to Niner's RLT 9 family to prepare for our next long weekend.
Niner equipped the RLT 9 RDO 650b 4-Star GRX 1x Gravel Bike with the performance of a road bike and the capabilities of a gravel bike. It's sturdy and reliable, and it transfers power easily so we can keep up with the pack when we're riding. Smaller, 650b wheels with Schwalbe tires and an Easton 1-chainring carbon crankset ensures smooth rolling over rough terrain. Shimano's GRX800 series is utilized for its gravel-specific ergonomics, optimized gearing, and ruggedness we trust with us on the trail. A quiet and stable drivetrain and superior handling make the Shimano GRX series an affordable option that performs.
We can't help but explore off the beaten path on the rides up into the mountains, and whether it's gravel roads or sleek tarmac we know it will be worth it for the views at the top. Niner's adventurous designs inspire us to go further, and that means they've equipped us with 650b wheels to soak up the harsh vibrations from bumps and washboards so we can keep grinding through the chatter. The RLT 9's longer chainstay, lower bottom bracket height, and slacker headtube angle ensure comfortable riding no matter where you're headed, and there are 26 mounting points for outfitting your bike if you're going the distance.
- Shimano GRX800 1-chainring drivetrain for your gravel riding
- 650b wheels improve smooth rolling over rough terrain
- Biocentric bottom bracket to fit any drivetrain
- Fireroad geometry that keeps you comfortable on long distances
- Integrated frame mounts for 26 places to mount your bags
- Niner RDO carbon fiber fork is light and stiff

Sweet dreams are made of this?
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 56
- Height
- 5` 10"
- Weight
- 165 lbs
Packing and built were impeccable. Competitive cycling knows how to ship and build bikes for sure! I got the GRX built and the shifting and breaking is super crisp. The bike very responsive and stiff but not harsh at all, and itâs so light. The only initial change Iâm doing is getting wider bars for control and better fit for my upper, and a shorter stem. Iâll have to use it more to see if the current cassette with a 42 cog is large enough for sustained climbing here in Colorado. I can always get a smaller chainring as well. Overall Iâm super pleased with the bike and Competitive Cyclist and would recommend them with my eyes closed. Thanks!!
