Niner's RLT line of bikes is the epitome of the all-terrain bike, and the RLT 9 4-Star Ultegra Complete Bike represents an excellent value with its alloy frame and carbon fork paired with a quality Shimano drivetrain. Together, you'll begin to explore where few bikes go and create some lasting adventures. Back for 2018, Niner has some amazing new colorways that look as good as the bike performs. This bike lives for adventure and the Road Less Traveled ethos shows in its build kit and frame features. Shimano's Ultegra drivetrain always offers precise shifting and is super durable. The 50-34 tooth crank paired with the 11-34 tooth cassette provides gearing that's plentiful for climbing long mountain passes fully laden while having enough gearing so you won't spin out on the way back down. Its 38mm Schwalbe G-One tires are ideal for rolling quickly on pavement while providing just enough security on gravel roads. The frame has clearance to handle tires up to 44mm wide if you see yourself rallying off-road and on singletrack regularly.
The frame's geometry takes queues from both the hardtail AIR lineup and the BSB CX frames. Compared to its 'cross-specific frame, the RLT 9 features a slightly longer chainstay, a lower bottom bracket height, and a slacker head tube angle. On the road, the lower center of gravity provides more stability at speed on rough surfaces, more confidence while cornering, and a longer wheelbase that is more comfortable over the long haul. Washboard descents are a little less dicey, the bike always seems to find the right line, and is nimble enough for some mellow singletrack. This bike's versatility is begging to see what you can do with it and the only limitation is you.
The RLT 9 aluminum frame pairs up with the Carbon RDO fork and it helps lighten things up and does an excellent job at quelling road vibrations. The fork isn't your typical carbon road fork mind you, its massive 15mm thru-axle anchors the hubs on the roughest roads and the rack mounts allow it to carry up to 45 pounds. Pair that with the 55-pound weight limit on the rear rack and you've got a bike that is more than capable for a week of touring deserted roads and exploring nature.
