Flat Top RDO Carbon Handlebar

Niner's range-topping RDO components have been pushing the limits of carbon technology since their inception, and the RDO Carbon Handlebar continues that tradition. Niner has successfully dropped 20 grams from its already light Flat Top Carbon bar, without affecting ride quality or strength.

They share the same shape, but extensive computer modeling has allowed the engineers to tweak the internal structure and carbon weave to reduce necessary material. The Flat Top RDO is 710mm and 780mm wide, and Niner provides markings in 20mm increments to assist with accurately chopping the bar down. Its minimum width for the narrower option is 650mm and it's bar end compatible.

This 31.8mm clamp diameter bar features a nine-degree sweep that offers excellent ergonomics, and it can be rotated to fine tune your riding position plus or minus five millimeters. Niner even designed the Flat Top Carbon RDO Handlebar's graphics to be unaffected by bar position, and hits them with colors to complement Niner's frames; Green, Moondust, Tangerine, and Red.

  • RDO carbon fiber design eliminates unnecessary material for weight savings
  • Markings in 20mm increments provide cutting guide

A nice upgrade from Alloy

I've used it several times

I got this bar to replace my aluminum Flat Top handlebar that came on my Niner RKT 9. It's a little less weight and takes some of the vibration out of the bars. So far I am happy with this carbon upgrade.

Bar Hopping

I've used it several times

I got this to make a 130mm hardtail corner better. It replaces a 730mm Thomson XC carbon bar. At 188g, the RDO is a half ounce lighter than the Thomson despite the additional 5cm of length and degree of backsweep. With same stem (see photo) the RDO is plusher than the Thomson, with better high speed compression damping. The extra width allows for more steering input, and the degree of extra backsweep compensates for the wider stance. Based on an even more positive experience with a Next R 35 on another bike, I considered a Whisky 35, but didn't want to buy another stem or cut from 840mm. Acknowledging the privilege of these choices, I confirm that incremental improvements in handlebar design/construction are real.
