Say no to mud butt.

If you spend much time on your steed, chances are you've experienced a muddy rear when you've been caught in a mid-mountain thunderstorm, or simply overestimated how dry the trail might be. Keep your rear covered, and your shorts fresh for days of riding to come with help from the Mucky Nutz Butt Fender. This fender is ridiculously easy to mount, and assembles completely tool free with two notched out holes in the thick, durable plastic. The notches secure to your saddle rails, protecting your saddle clamp while covering you from mud, sand, and unmentionables you might roll across on the trail. It's compatible with most standard double steel rail saddles, so long as they don't have plastic molding on the back, which interferes with the placement of the fender, and can cause it to point downwards, snagging on your tire while you ride.

  • A thick and strong fender that covers your rear
  • Easy to mount without tools to double-railed saddles
  • Stops top of seat post from being clogged with mud
  • Opens flat for easy cleaning and storage
  • Lightweight for a barely there feel
  • Not compatible with saddles that have molded plastic at rear

Cracked Up

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I installed on my 2019 SC Bronsen (with 27.5" plus sized tires) and it cracked along the seam on the first ride. When you drop your seat and go over moderately bumpy terrain or take a jump, the fend will get pulled up under the seat by hitting the tread on the tires. I can see if I was riding in cold temps, but it was a sunny day in the 70's. Maybe if it was slightly more rigid or shorter this might not happen. I have the XL Face Fender mounted on the front and that has been trouble-free.

Cool - maybe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

For what it is, its pretty cool. The design is pretty clever, and attaches securely without any zip ties, straps, etc. The one thing is, because it sits on your seat, if your a long legged human who has a seat that sits 2 feet above their rear tire, these might not be that effective. If you're not a giant then this may work well for you!
