Why We Like The Talon Ultra 1K Handlebar/Stem
While we think exceptional steed can be built up from a slew of cherry-picked components, there's something to be said for components that are purpose-built for specific steeds. Instead of a barrage of components tossed on without much reason, proprietary components lend themselves to seamless integration, and it's only natural that Pinarello would marry their Dogma F12 with the Most Talon Ultra 1K Handlebar/Stem combo to elevate the ride's aerodynamic properties and strength. Most crafts the Talon Ultra 1K to remove cables from the exterior of your steed, smoothing areas that used to cause air ripples and drag to slow you down, while providing a cockpit that's finely tuned for performance when you're toeing the line on race day.
There are few things as sleek and stunning as a wireless ride, and we suspect that the engineers at Most agree, which is why the Talon Ultra 1K enables you to omit all cables from your cockpit emerging from under the bar tape. Instead, cables route internally through the bars and directly into the headtube, which not only creates a flawless aesthetic, but also lends itself to a claimed 5%-reduction in aerodynamic drag from Most's other Talon bars that utilize external cable routing. But the gains don't stop with aerodynamics — the bar also drops a whopping 10% of weight below the standard Talon, and gains just shy of 9% stiffness to improve handling under serious forces.
If you had the chance to ride the previous model Talon you'll appreciate that the Talon Ultra maintains the same reach and drop numbers as its sibling, but changes the aerodynamic profile on the flats slightly. As opposed to its predecessor, the Talon Ultra rounds out the aero flats slightly after receiving feedback from Pinarello's professional riders, which lands you with a bit more of a comfortable perch to rest your hands on when you're not in the drops.
Most crafts the integrated stem and bar combo in a huge variety of sizes to accommodate riders with different anatomy and preferences. You'll find stem lengths available ranging from 90mm to 140mm, and widths (center to center) from 42cm to 46cm. The bar was originally designed for the Dogma F12 exclusively, but is now compatible with 2021 and newer Pinarello Prince models.
