Item # MIR0004

Make a difference.

We're not here to give you an ethics lesson, and neither is MiiR. However, the facts are the facts, and more people are dying every year from unsafe drinking water. In fact, over the time that it takes for you to drink a cup of coffee, around 63 people will die from a water-born illness. With this in mind, MiiR is out to contribute to an environment of change by combining desirable product design with outreach and donation. With the MiiR Coffee Cup, your money goes directly to work in combating water-born disease by creating clean water sources around the globe. So, you gain a beautiful and functional product, while also gaining the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting real change.

We understand if you reserve a hint of skepticism, as much of the money from charity-oriented products is horribly mismanaged, and at times, distributed in a downright shady fashion. However, this couldn't be further from the truth with MiiR. With every Coffee Cup purchase, every cent of one dollar goes directly to those in need. How? In the forms of both clean water and sanitation projects. But, how can you be sure that your donation is being spent appropriately? Well, after you register your purchase, MiiR will notify you within 6 to 18 months of the location of the well project that your dollar created. Additionally, you get a numbered bracelet with every Coffee Cup purchase for reference of your good deed.

Now, the reasons are growing as to why the MiiR clean water program is necessary. It's estimated that everyday, around 6,000 people die from water-born disease. On top of that, the World Health Organization estimates that nearly half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by people suffering from water-borne illness. Altogether, this is the result of 1 in 8 people simply not having access to clean drinking water. This lack of clean water, and the conditions that arise from it, produce a volatile concoction of health and economic crisis. In fact, it's estimated to cost developing countries around $28 billion a year -- roughly 5% of GDP (UN Study). Luckily, your $1 and MiiR's dedication can change these statistics.

Now, MiiR isn't trying to hook you in with a sob story and a colored bracelet. The Coffee Cup is actually a well-crafted, purpose-driven cup that you would be happy to use anyways. Its lid is made from a BPA-free polypropylene, and every cup is constructed from South Korean-sourced, 18/8 stainless steel that's easily cleanable and remains odor-free. Additionally, MiiR designed the cup with a double-walled construction that insulates the contents. You'll also find the lid's silicone seal provides a confident seal, and prevents seepage and spilling. And, better yet, every piece of the Coffee Cup is dishwasher safe.

So, you have a choice: Purchase a coffee cup that benefits do-nothing corporations, or purchase a coffee cup that will positively impact someone's life for an entire year. Seems like a simple decision.

The Miir Coffee Cup is available in a 12oz size and in the colors Matte Black, Stainless, and White.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this coffee cup twice a day, everyday. It's a perfect 12oz. The air hole does get a little clogged, but I wouldn't want it any bigger. It's great at keeping coffee warm.

Great mug, leaky lid.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Unlike Brian Bernard's review, my lid would leak a bit and wouldn't get a complete seal (Maybe I got the Friday afternoon lid?), but it's a great size for the office and in car cupholders. If you throw it in the freezer for a little bit, it's great for post-ride beer as well. Registered my tag and am waiting to hear what project my purchase went toward.

Ballin' Corporate Collaboration

This is hardly just a cup. this is your company's new liquid daily driver. MiiR offers some great color options and the durable stainless steel pairs well with custom logos should you choose to serve your clients up some custom logo goodness every morning when they pour their coffee.

The best part about MiiR is that they give a dam...or a well. Yup, for every sale of a MiiR product they donate to the MiiR clean water program which provides pure clean water to those who usually go without. I don't know about your company, but I'm on board with that. Next time your company is looking for a corporate gift give me a ring at 801-736-6165 and I will get you set up with a MiiR product that can help thousands.

Coffee in the AM beer in the PM

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Miir does something good for society, that is the most important thing here. You pay a fair price for a high-quality coffee cup and it helps others, simple as that. The cup is well insulated for both hot and cold drinks. This is my go-to for traveling and camping because it looks and works just like a pint glass. Your coffee stays hot and in the cup with a tightly fit lid, and then when beer:30 rolls around you just leave the top of and you don't look like your drinking beer from a coffee mug. As a bonus it stays cold longer.

    - My one con of the mug is that the air hole in the lid is very small, so while it doesn't leak it can easily clog with dry coffee residue and become blocked. Once that happens the java doesn't flow out as easily through the mouth piece. To remedy it, just blow through the hole and you're good to go.

    Great mugs

I have a couple of these and love them. The lid seals very well, and I've never had it leak whatsorever. I was concerned at first about the lack of a full-closing top, but I haven't had any trouble keeping coffee in it --just can't throw it in a backpack.
