Michelin Wild AM Tire - 27.5in $74.99
True all-mountain annihilator.
It's no secret that Michelin has been at the tire game since long before most of us were dreaming up enduro trails that border on insanity. Their designers and engineers have always made tires that fall into specific categorizations, some XC, enduro, or DH, but rarely an all mountain tire that really proved to be all mountain capable. This time around, we're impressed to see the new Michelin Wild AM 27.4 Tire capable of really shredding the whole mountain. Michelin took research and development to the next level with the new tire series, implementing rigorous testing with professional athletes, 150 races and 250 different tires later, the Michelin Wild AM series is ready to ride and carry you wherever you want to roll.
Employing Gum-x 3D dual-density tread, which claims to be stronger and grippier, you'll find a compound based on the Gum-X 2d, but with burlier lugs and higher blocks that are better suited for all-mountain riding. Enforcing maximum durability within the compound is Trail Shield technology- a 60 TPI casing constructed to provide puncture resistance from trail debris, rocks, and roots. This tough casing also lends its self to an emerging necessity for some riders: e-bike compatibility. With the increased weight of an e-bike it's essential to run an exceptionally durable tire to withstand the blows of rocks and roots with a heavier load. At 27.5 this tire is happy to pair with your bike for a nimble all mountain ride, and with 2.35in you'll find it happily fits on most modern mountain bikes, providing optimal tread contact for banked turns and low enough rolling resistant to power up fire roads with ease.
