A5C Disc Brake Wheelset

We've always regarded Mercury Wheels as a brand offering value-packed wheels that offered nearly the same wind-cheating abilities as the big players while coming at a much friendlier price point. With its all-new A5C Disc Brake Wheelset, the firm maintains a lower barrier of entry with aero performance, stability, and durability that's better than most. Designed using computational fluid dynamics and honed in the wind tunnel, the A5's sits at 54.5mm deep, but thanks to its patented Kamm Tail Technology 10 profile, it offers a virtual depth of 67mm, ideal for attacking the bunch and riding off the front. This disc-brake version is perfect for your all-road and gravel bike, giving you the stiff power transfer needed for faster days in the saddle.

We're used to seeing Kamm Tail profiles utilized in aero frame tube shapes, and modern aero road rim shapes have certainly gotten blunter leading ages of the years, but this is the first rim we're aware of that uses a true Kamm Tail shape. Working with world-renowned bicycle aerodynamicist Paul Lew, Mercury designs a teardrop-shaped airfoil with a small portion of the tail end removed. At real-world yaw angles, the airflow will still remain attached and act as though the teardrop shape is complete without creating a low-pressure area behind the leading edge which causes turbulence, giving you the aero benefits of a virtual 67mm deep wheel. However, the lower profile helps maintain stability in crosswinds and blustery canyon road descents.

The aero benefits aren't the only thing we love about these wheels: the disc-specific hub and rotor ensure the stiffness we need for better power transfer with the thru-axle hub. You can descend with confidence in any conditions, knowing that the strong hub interface will help mellow your speed through the tightest switchbacks.

  • Innovative carbon wheels with wind-cheating shaping
  • Disc-brake version is tubeless-ready for your favorite all-road tires
  • 54.5mm deep rims with the aerodynamics of a virtual 67mm, improve stability
  • Mercury Tempest sealed bearing hubs maintain performance through varied conditions
  • Hand-laced, straight-pull spokes boost stiffness and durability
  • Thru-axle design pairs readily with your all-road and gravel steed

    What A Great Deal!

I've put it through the wringer

Stop looking at Zipp, Enve, and other brands. I have over 2400 miles on them so far. These wheels are the best bang for your buck wheels. Incredibly stiff, lightweight, and durable. Perfect for any type of riding and racing, and at great price. Plus they look awesome.

    Great wheelset!!!

I've put it through the wringer

Added these A5 wheels to my Madone 6 SLR, made my fast bike crazy fast. Lighter and stiffer than stock! I have loved my bike since I’ve gotten it, but it is even better with these amazing wheels. Plus they sound incredible too! Two thumbs up!

I've put it through the wringer

I put these on my Quintana Roo PRFour Disc and love them. I have over 1900 miles on them so far and no issues at all. The hubs are very smooth with nice engagement. Love the stealth look of these wheels. Highly recommend.

Fastest Set of Wheels I own

I've put it through the wringer

I switched over from the Zipp 404's when I bought the Cervelo R Disc. It is a fast bike, but really fast with the wheels. There is no comparison when I look at my power data/speed from my previous Zipp equipped bike vs. my Cervelo with the A5's!
