The Maxxis Velocita Tubeless tire is a high-volume low-profile tire, perfect for your gravel or all-road bike. A do-it-all tire necessitates a careful balance of rolling efficiency and grip. The Velocita’s knurled center and file tread outer provide traction in corners without slowing you down on the pavement sections between sweet open dirt roads. If the road includes some pointy hazards, fear not-- the lightweight EXO casing adds protection to the sidewalls to keep you rolling and avoid the dreaded bail-out call for a ride home. Review for SilkShield version

UPDATE (4/17/21): Several hundred miles on these and going strong, no issues. I've spent a little bit of time on some very coarse gravel sections just to test them out, and they survived just fine, but it's not what I bought these tires for. I really like them on the road where they soak up bumps and I don't have to worry too much about rough sections. ORIGINAL (2/21/21): So far so good. I'll post a longer-term review when I have more miles. The reviews on this tire are limited and I suspect the negative reviews are from folks who had unrealistic expectations. This tire is touted as a gravel tire, but with a smooth tread pattern and lightweight carcass it is obviously way over toward the street-end of the spectrum. Even off the rack it was noticeably lighter in hand than other slick gravel tires, such as Terravail Rampart. I have two wheel sets so I can have a mostly-gravel and a mostly-road option depending on my mood that day. This tire has very smooth, easy handling on the road. It allows you to corner without the buzz of a knobby tire. It has the extra volume to help dampen rough road surfaces. The tire is also offered with SilkShield version, which has bead-to-bead protection, and perhaps that is a more durable construction than the one CC is selling here.

Hit something in the road, had accumulated around 50 miles on tire. Rear blew, was able to put in a Stan's Dart, inflate to around 40 psi and make it home. In the garage I pumped it up to the max 60 psi rating. This exposed a weak sidewall tear near the puncture, lost air. For an EXO rated tire, I would have expected stronger sidewalls. Tried to salvage the tire with a patch, lasted 10 miles today. In the trash it goes.

Curious, which spec did you get? It looks like they offer this with a few different layups - one they call Silkshield that goes bead to bead, and this one CC is selling called Exo that covers just the sidewall. I have no idea what the practical differences are but I picked up some of the Silkshield version that I intend to use for city roads. They look nice so I'm hoping for better luck.
